She thought she knew something about love; she thought she felt it when she was with Jet. He was so exciting, so romantic, so dangerous. She felt that he could protect her and excite her all at the same time. But he had lied to her and she didn't feel she would be able to trust a man again for a long time. But with Aang, the trust had always been there. It came naturally. She had always seen him like a brother, someone that was playful and yet she had to protect him from all the dangers of the world. But once things had settled down and everyone was able to breathe, she began to see a real change in him. She had noticed it before the invasion, too. He was somehow more serious, more understanding of his role in the world and it scared him, and quite frankly it scared her, too. How could she be a part of a life that meant so much to the world? She couldn't.

But she realized that she would never be able to love anyone but him. When she closed her eyes she saw his strong form, his fierce eyes, his playful laugh. She saw the way he moved, the way he protected life above all else.

She wondered… If he valued the life around him that much, life that he had never encountered before, how did he then feel about her? He had already expressed his love for her, but she wondered now how intense he must feel for her. The thought made her heart flutter.

He wasn't the little boy she met so long ago in the iceberg. He was a man now. And she knew he would protect and love her so passionately. She realized that she wanted to do the same for him.
