Some thing I thought of when I was listening to Taylor Swift's Mary's song (Oh my, my, my).
Eighty six year old Samantha Ely was sitting on her and her husband, Jake's bed looking at an old photo album. The first picture was of her and Jake when they were very young children. They were each on a pony, Sam smiling a toothless and Jake with his trade mark smirk that he still had to this day.
She said I was seven
and you were nine And our daddies used to joke about
the two of us. Growing up and falling in love. And our momma smiled
and rolled their eyes. And said..Oh my, my, my.. Took
me back to the house in the backyard trees. You said you would beat
me up, you were bigger then me. You never did, You never did. Took
me back when our world was one block wide. And I dared you to kiss me
and ran when you tried. Just two kids. You and I. Oh my, my,
my...
I looked at you like the stars that shine in
the sky. The pretty lights
The next picture was Sam's sixteenth birthday. It was of Jake kissing Sam for the first time after giving the necklace in the shape of a horse that she still wore every day to this day.
Well I was sixteen
when suddenly; I wasn't that little girl you used to see. But your
eyes still shined. Like pretty lights. And our daddies used
to joke about the two of us. Never believe we would fall in love. And
our momma smiled and rolled their eyes. And said...Oh my, my,
my...
The next one was Jake sitting on the River Bend ranch house steps after her and Jake's first fight over what Sam couldn't remember, and her glaring out the kitchen window. Sam could remember thinking she wanted him to leave.
Took me back to the time we had
our very first fight. Slamming our doors instead of kissing
goodnight. You stayed outside 'til the morning light. Oh my,
my, my, my
Took me back to
the creek thats reaching dark. Two A.M, riding in your truck. Yet all
I need, is here next to me.
The next was a shot that Sam didn't know was taken until her and Jake got the picture from Jen when she gave the Album to Sam and Jake on the last anniversary. Jake was down on one knee out on the old bridge at River Bend, when he purposed.
A few years ago when comin' around. We were sitting at our favorite spot in town. Then you looked at me, got down on one knee.
The next was a wedding picture of them coming down the isle after being pronounced husband and wife.
Took me back to
the time when we walked down the aisle. Our whole town came and our
mommas cried. You said I do and I did too.
The next picture was taken by Maxine Ely the day Jake and Sam brought their first daughter, Emma Louise, home from the hospital.
Took me home
when we met so many years before. Where we rock our babies on the
very front porch. After all this time, you and I.
Sam had added the last one herself it was taken just a week ago at their 66th anniversary the whole family threw a surprise party. It was perfect.
When I'll be 87 you'll be 89. I'll still look at you like the stars that shine in the sky.
"Sam?" said Jake poking his head in the door.
She looked up.
"Come on out side, Alexis and John brought Emily."
"Okay I'll be out in a minuet."
When she got out side Sam looked around at her family. Her children, grandchildren, and the newest, her and Jake's first great-grandchild, Emily Marie. Her and Jake had three daughters, Emma, Riley, and Sidney. They all had three kids each who were all married or engaged. Emma married Jen and Darrel's son Tyler. They had Alexis, who was married to John and had a two week old daughter named Emily, Aden, and Wyatt II. Riley married a guy she met in collage, Jason. They had three boys. Jason Jr., Jonathan, and Aaron. Sidney married her high school boyfriend, Zackary. They had girls, Alyssa and Alison (twins) and Julia.
Oh my, my,
my...
