It was one of those days. One of those days where the sky was covered and dark clouds hung low, ready to release rain at any given moment, causing tension. The animals of Metropolis who were awake carried umbrellas over their head. It was only seven in the morning and neither of the mayors had awakened. Yes, NEITHER of the mayors. The town of Metropolis was run by two girls. Twin sisters in fact. Of course, if they were normal they'd be trying to run each other out of office. Not with them. Their names were Mackenzie, A.K.A. Kenzie, and Katriana, A.K.A. Kitty.
Kenzie had social anxiety.
Kitty wasn't mature enough to run her own town.
Since them two, Metropolis would never be the same.
Morning had risen in Metropolis, and Mackenzie had awoken with it. She walked downstairs and into her bathroom. She slid her headband out of her light brown hair and undid her tiny ponytail. She then re-did her hair into a bun. She washed off her face and went back into her cozy bedroom. It wasn't much-Just some pieces from the minimalist series. Kenzie picked out her ballet dress to wear as it was to be a comfortably warm day. Kenzie then ventured into her kitchen and took an apple, the town's native fruit, from a basket she so conveniently left on her kitchen table. She decided she would wake up Kitty and then go to Brewster's for some coffee to assist her to wake up. The clouds caused an extreme drabness, dreariness, and drowsiness that was hard to shake off. Kenzie stepped outside and surveyed her surroundings. The outside looked like a horror film. Right before the ghost appears, that is. There were no bodies littered around. The first thing Kenzie noticed was that the wind had picked up. The dark rain clouds were moving in faster and had covered the sun completely. Not one ray penetrated the blockade of clouds, and though it was eight in the morning, it looked like the dead of night. A thick fog had settled on the land. Not so thick that she couldn't see her hand, but enough to block out the view of the nearest neighbor's house. Through the fog she could see the street lamp's artificial lighting. They looked like floating, hazy, glowing orbs since she could not see the lamp post, just the yellow light. It was very humid outside, and for summer the temperature was a little low. It sent chills up her spine. It was kind of scary but it was more eerie or ominous, not flat out scary. Flat out scary would've been her seeing a silhouette of a guy she didn't recognize. Good thing she didn't see that...Or dead bodies. THAT would've been flat out scary. As much as it wasn't scary, she didn't want to go. Mustering up her courage, Kenzie then proceeded to walk drowsily to her twin's house for she knew this town like the back of her hand, fog and all.
