Percy looked at Annabeth. There were still falling. His eyes had sparks flying everywhere. He looked into her deep gray eyes. Inside was love and knowledge and power. He loved her beyond belief. Every other love story was beyond compare, because he loved her more than Romeo loved Juliet. More than Mark Antony loved Cleopatra. More than Lancelot loved Guinevere. He just loved her beyond compare. He thought she was the most intelligent girl to have ever lived. He'd never tell her - since she wanted to be smarter than pretty- but he also thought she was the most beautiful.
"Wise Girl?" He asked Annabeth, the wind whistling through his ears.
"Yeah, Seaweed Brain?" She asked. She was trying to be funny. While falling into Tartarus.
Percy smiled. "You know I love you more than anything, right?" he asked, now serious.
"Shut up, Seaweed Brain." She kissed him. They fell into Tartarus happy. At least as happy as you can be, falling to your death.
Percy hugged Annabeth close. He buried his face into her shoulder. A few tears escaped from his eyes before he told himself he had to be strong. For Annabeth. He did everything for her. He pushed his hand along her spine, up to the top of her back, pressing her closer into him. He kissed into her collarbone. He hugged her closer, until he could feel her breath, warm and persistent onto a spot under his right ear.
"I love you." He barely heard her say, the wind whistling ever so loudly into his ears.
"I love you too." He whispered back, doubting she could hear.
He felt her press back, her hand in the middle of his back, and he felt safe. At least as safe as he could, plunging into pure darkness.
