"Why do you spin so much?" She asks looking down at him from the ladder. When he doesn't answer, she continues. "Sorry, it's just that you've spun more gold than you could ever spend." "I like to watch the wheel, it help me forget." Simplest answer there is he assumed, easier than explaining the whole story. "Forget what?" She was just too curious sometimes, asking questions with complicated answers, or exploring the castle when he was gone. He remembers coming back once to find her asleep in a chair in his library, with an open book on her lap.
Trying to make things less tense he thought he better make a joke, "Well I guess it worked." And to his surprise, she laughed a little at that. Most likely sensing that he didn't want to talk much more about it, she just dropped it. But he was interested in what she was doing, standing on a ladder, tugging on the curtains. Why? He curiously got up from his wheel and walked towards the ladder. "What are you doing?" He asks.
"Opening these, it's almost spring. We should let some light in." She says as if that's the most obvious reason there is, still pulling on those curtains. When this didn't seem to work, she frustratedly turned towards him. "What did you do, nail them down?" "Yes." Why wouldn't he have nailed them; why would he have wanted sunlight flooding the castle.
She just huffs and goes back to yanking the curtains, but just twice more and she's falling, taking the curtain with her. The room gets bathed in the light, moving fast, he reaches out and catches her. He didn't want her to get hurt, that would really have slowed down her work. Or at least that's what he would tell himself. "T-thank you." She says surprised and slightly stunned. He wasn't sure how long they looked at each other; he only noticed how she looked surrounded by the natural light.
He abruptly set her down. "Thank you." She says again. "No problem." He tells her, slightly uncomfortable. "I'll put the curtains back up." She says, as if he would let her do that, after seeing how beautiful she looked in the light. "It's no need, I'll get used to it." He was already getting used to it.
Wait, since when did he start noticing how beautiful she was.
All she is is his servant.
Just his servant.
Maybe.
I'm missing their relationship, the cuteness, one because of the break, and two because they've been put through hell lately. So I have decided to go back to their beginning and entertain my self from there. Hope you enjoyed my flashback.
