Liberalmasochist asked: How about something angsty? Maybe a one shot digging a little deeper into that look Emma gave Regina and Robin in the Author's(or Sorcerer's, tbh I don't remember) library.
Emma threw a punch at the wall. Her knuckles crunched sickeningly as they connected with solid brick and she groaned as a sharp throb spread through her hand.
Taking a deep breath, Emma tried to control the anger swelling up inside her. How could Regina still be with him? After everything that had happened between the two of them?
She had stood up for Regina when she was accused of killing Archie, she had helped stop the destruction of Storybrooke when Greg and Tamara were around, they had both rescued Henry together and then Regina had sacrificed everything and given them new, happy memories when she stopped Pan's curse.
Yeah, Emma had helped her find the author to try and get a happy ending but she had hoped that in doing so, Regina might finally realise how Emma felt. But no such luck, Emma had only succeeded in letting Regina convince herself that Robin was her happy ending. Even after Emma followed her to New York, even after talking Emma down from shooting Lily. Regina still couldn't see it.
Anger was still bubbling under Emma's surface. She had been helping the others look for another storybook in the Sorcerers' library but after watching Robin paw over a frustrated Regina, she needed to get out of there fast. Emma growled and this time kicked the wall in front of her. She drew back to take aim again, ignoring the throb that now radiated through her foot, but stopped when she heard footsteps behind her.
"Emma? Is everything okay?" Emma paused and composed herself before turning to face Regina. "To be honest Regina, no. Everything is not okay. For so long I have done everything in my power to help you get a happy ending because, y'know, everyone deserves a happy ending. Yet you keep going back to him. Yeah I didn't know bringing back Marian or Zelena or whoever the hell she was would break you two up, but then he kept changing his mind, and even after you pushed him away and he told you he couldn't choose you, you still wanted him. We went to fucking New York so you could get him away from Zelena. I mean I'm glad he and Roland are okay but like, after everything we've been through together why do you keep pushing me away!" Emma took a deep breath, not realising she had started yelling at a surprised Regina.
"Why are you yelling Emma? Tinkerbelle told me that he was-"
"Yeah, yeah, I know, Tink said that the guy with the Lion tattoo would be your soulmate but a soulmate isn't the same as a True Love and-" Emma didn't get a chance to continue with her rant before she was pushed up against the wall. Her back colliding with brick at the same time Regina's lips crushed her own. Emma reacted on instinct, shoving her hands into Regina's brunette locks and holding her in place as Regina's own hands held onto Emma's hips.
"You're an idiot." Regina breathed when she finally released Emma. "Yes we went to New York to get Robin back but that's because Zelena is a psychopath. Spending those 6 weeks with you trying to find the Author made me realise that my happy ending wasn't Robin, it's finally feeling at home in the world, with you."
