An edited version of Just Friends

I had rewrite this -_- Sorry for the confusion of chapter one, but the other one was just too fluffy for me and I felt like I could do better. This one only has a slight Disguised Jetpack in it, but it's a start. This takes place at the beginning of the whole EPF era. Shortly after the whole popcorn incident and whatnot.

Oh and I also had help from Mysocalleddeath on deviant art

Many thanks to her for being my editor ^^

Acquaintances

Silence. Something that rarely occurs in the EPF headquarters. A monitor was left blank in front the conference table as the eight chairs stood alone in the lower deck. Most of the time, a local agent would hear a variety of noise occur throughout the building but not tonight. The only sound that was heard was the alarm of an electrical clock set off as it stroke midnight. But, was the place really deserted?

"Two more reports to go and I am out of here," a feminine voice sighed.

Below the headquarters was a lonely room with only a payphone in the corner. A purple penguin widely known as Dot the Disguise Gal was leaning against the communication device as she was stubbornly writing her last report on a blank template. How eager she was to get out of here, to finally go home and rest all night; yet here she was sipping a cup of hot chocolate in aching pain. Who knew three hours of filling out forms could mentally drain you? Thank goodness it was almost over! Dot yawned as she leaned back on a rolling chair. Even though it was late and everyone already abandoned the Everyday Phoning Facility, she must admit, it was nice to be alone for once.

Though her main duty is to design disguises for the Elite Penguin Force, or EPF, her leadership skills have allowed her to train beginners who are starting to become EPF agents. During the day, rookies, including "Rookie" himself, come to their daily training routine. The latest missions had been a heavy weight for Dot to carry, and not to mention the disguises that needed to be 'handmade' for every agent in the latest operation. Dot may treat the penguins like family, but even they were starting to bug the exhausted purple penguin. Silence. It was music to her.

Below the floor laid a red penguin sitting on his desk. His black sunglasses, labeled JPG, sat above a tower of papers. From Rookie to stressful missions, the bird was happy to be by himself without any distractions. Not to mention how some of the girls that have been eyeballing at him. Though it was flattering that women, especially agent ones, were noticing him, was it too much to ask to grab a cup of Joe without bumping into a 'fan girl'? The word was a bit extreme, but he could tell that by the look of their faces that the girls have a bit more than a liking to him.

"Great…" Jet groaned as he thought about his difficulties. "Why didn't the FISH Guide mention this?"

Now, both penguins may have been in the same headquarters, but for some reason, they were completely unaware of each other's presence. JPG has remained stuck in the EPF Command Room completing his assignments while Dot dwelt in the Everyday Phoning Facility showing rookies the EPF entrance exam.

Silence. Sweet. Sweet. Silence. Until, abruptly, a sound of broken glass was heard in the Elite Penguin Force Headquarters. By instinct, Jet quickly hurdled off the chair.

"What the…" he thought in confusion as he quickly crouched underneath the desk.

He hesitantly looked at his watch. It was one in the morning. Who could be here at this hour? The red penguin, not wanting to wait for answers, barrel rolled out of the desk and ran to edge of the right staircase. An agent is supposed to be alert and prepared for anything for puffle's sake, and the Jet Pack Guy knew this plasma laser would come in handy. Swiftly he heard the headquarters' elevator sound go off and quickly waddled to the front of the machine's doors. He took out the invention from his suit's pocket. The mysterious figure could be anonymous, however all he can do was stay in position and wait for the intruder to come out.

Meanwhile, Dot was wiping her coat as she tried to remove the chocolate stain from the fabric. The material was pure cotton and sensitive against marks. A wet rag should do the trick or that's what she hoped.

"Boy, I regret buying hot chocolate," the purple agent grumbled as she flung the cloth in frustration. This was a fashion catastrophe! The mark was still in place and, worst of all, spreading to the gold rings on her belt.

"Ah c'mon! I spend over a hundred coins on this material!" she moaned once more.

Nonetheless the elevator's door opened and as Dot started to waddle into HQ. She noticed a figure coming straight towards and pined her down as the he covered the Disguise Gal's beak.

"What the…" Dot muttered under the flipper.

With Jet Pack Guy having the intruder down, the agent couldn't help but noticed how too easy this was. What, no comeback? No weapons or even snowballs? But, it didn't matter. JPG had to distinguish who this figure was.

"Ok! Who are you and how did you get here?" the red penguin growled in fury.

Dot looked up at the stranger. Who's this penguin and why would he say that to a Lead EPF Agent? Surely, he would've know who she was, right? Without a sound, the EPF agent lift her arm off of the red bird's grip and pushed him off.

"My name is none of your concern," Dot screeched as she stood up with A Snowball-Thrower 3000 in her grip. "I'm a certified agent here at the Elite Penguin Force,"

Jet, looking up at the shadow in front of him, reached into his suit pocket and took out his spy phone. As his flipper come out, a bright light came out of the device and started to reveal the 'intruder's' identity. The penguin was wearing a lilac coat, a purple tie, a dark purple undershirt and a blonde wig. He didn't know this penguin too well, but one of the former PSA agents mentioned her once or twice.

"Oh, it's you," Jet sighed in relieved as the elevator door opened and reveal the Everyday Phoning Facility room. "Dot. Right?"

"Yea…?" the penguin replied as he examined the bird. "How do you…?" Suddenly, it hit her. A couple of her friends told her a while back how they hired a PSA agent who always carries a jetpack wherever he goes. One of them seemed too happy about it. "Wait, aren't you the new leader for the Tactical Lead?"

"You got it," the red bird responded as he waddled outside the elevator into the Everyday Phoning Facility. "Stealth Lead. Correct? Sorry for intruding you,"

"Yep, that's me," the purple penguin exclaimed as she wiped the dust from her coat. "Oh and it's fine. I have been in worse situations,"

"Right… " Jet Pack Guy questioned suspiciously as he saw her coming out of the elevator. "So, you didn't happen to hear anything suspicious while you were up there?"

"Well, there was a crash, but…" Dot admitted as she tried not to sound too stroppy.

"But what?" Jet frowned with a raised eyebrow.

"That…was me," the Disguise Gal explained as she held out the broken handle from the mug. "I ended up dropping my mug while I was filling out some reports in the Everyday Phoning Facility,"

The Tactical Leader stood quiet in disbelief. That was it? A mug? All this trouble was for nothing? "Seriously?" the agent grimly questioned.

"Hey! It was an accident! I didn't ask you to pin me down!" Dot argued as she crossed her flippers.

Jet Pack Guy just shrugged his shoulders in annoyance. "What did you want me to do? I was trained to check out anything suspicious, and I did. How was I supposed to know it was you?"

"You could've spotted my EPF badge," the disguise gal honked as she pointed at her pin.

"But, according to the EPF manual, Stealth agents are supposed to go unnoticed on purpose. Unless you don't want to live up to your name," Jet leered as he held the book above his head. "Sounds to me like someone needs to work on that part,"

Dot stopped for a moment. "B-but! I don't have to do that all the time!" she screeched in annoyance.

"Really?" JPG snarled with a chuckle. "So you're telling me that The Stealth Lead is a bit clumsy then? And that she doesn't think something like that would happen in missions? How can you be sure? What if you cause something to tip over while you're in hiding? What if you get caught in the process? Cause maladroit and slyness don't really link with each other,"

"…. Well in this case it does," the purple bird countered in shock. "Besides, I am just exhausted from work. That's all. Anymore suggestions?"

"No. Just make sure you dry clean that coat you're wearing," he stated while analyzing the stain on Dot's coat.

"What?" the disguise gal murmured as she glanced down at her outfit and groaned. Looks like that wet rag didn't do much of a good job. "Um…right… So, Smart Guy, what are you doing here anyway?"

"Filling out reports," the red bird responded as he looked back at the tower of paperwork on his desk. "Any more questions?"

The EPF penguin paused. This bird was a strange one, yet she couldn't help but be strangely drawn to him. "One more thing, I never got your name," the purple penguin questioned.

"Just call me Jet Pack Guy or JPG," the tactical leader replied as he started to teleport out of the headquarters. "I don't care. Just don't tell anyone what happened,"

"Trust me, I won't," Dot stated. "Besides, no one was here to see that, so don't worry about it,"

The purple bird smirked as the agent faded away. He was a strange one indeed, but that didn't matter anymore. Dot waddled to the main command computer and pressed a button. The screen popped out a notifications: "Security System: Normal," The gal sighed in relief. For a moment, she was certain something passed them while she was chatting with JPG. The agent looked down at her coat, she better get out of here before the stain seeps into the fabric.
