Even though she saw it coming, the break up still hurt. How could she have not seen it? It was obvious to anyone who payed the slightest bit of attention to him that Ronald Weasley was in love with another member of the Golden Trio. How he could prefer the other girl over herself, though, was beyond her.
Hermione Granger was ugly; there was no other way of putting it. Sure, she had finally fixed her horrendous, overgrown front teeth, but that didn't help her appearance very much. Her hair was bushy and in desperate need of better care. Her clothes were just as ugly as she was, and she never wore makeup. Hermione Granger was bossy, a know-it-all, and absolutely unbearable.
In her own eyes, Lavender Brown was everything Hermione Granger wasn't. She was, after all, beautiful. Perhaps she could be slightly clingy at times, but at least she gave him attention and praises; something Hermione didn't do.
And for the life of her, Lavender Brown could never figure out why Ronald Weasley had chosen Hermione Granger over herself.
