THANK YOU GREAT DEKU TREE
Two dark eyes searched the field of Hyrule. A dark man pulled on the reigns of his black horse. The heat of hundreds of torches made his eyes water. His army of dark thieves sat behind him on their horses waving their swords.
Power,Courage,Wisdom. Those were what he wanted. For they would allow him to rule this land. He lifted his sword. That was all he did... and nothing more.
This is what started the tale of the Hero of Time. The army of thieves charged forward to the castle. They plowed through fences and mowed down the grass. The evil flowed through the midnight field as horses arrived at the castle just as the drawbridge was closing.
"Quickly!" Flaming arrows and bombs entered the castle town and splinters of the drawbridge were thrown into the crowd. The horses ran through the water and into the castle. The king's guards ran into the town.
"We demand you return to the desert! If not, we will be forced to fight you." The dark man smiled as he lifted his hand above his head. It began to glow with dark magic. Energy shot from his palm and sent the guard flying into the frightened townspeople.
A hylian woman sat with her friends. She had just delivered a baby and was shaking with fear. The guards and townspeople were being murdered outside. Now, was time to escape. The woman and her friends ran to a back door. The alley was cold and dark. The small group of people sprinted down the alley. They came around a corner.... all clear. They ran down to the last corner. A thief emerged from the shadows on his horse. His bow was stretched with an arrow aimed straight at the group. The woman's husband stood in front of the group.
"I won't let you harm my wife or her child!" The thief fired. Suddenly, another arrow flew over the housetops and struck the thief. The woman knelt by her dying husband and bowed her head.
"We must flee now," said another woman in the group. The two women climbed onto a horse and sprinted from the alley just as other thieves came and captured the rest of the group. The two women ran from the castle and across the field.
"I've heard stories of a forest guardian called 'The Great Deku Tree'. Surely he will take care of my baby boy... Link. He will be a link to what has happened and a key to what is to come. The Great Deku Tree must know of what happened. He will send this different... no... special, boy to save Hyrule." The horse entered a large hollow log that was set in a rock wall. They galloped across a bridge in a great forest and entered a village. Peaceful fairies floated around the empty village. The Deku Tree must have warned all of the villagers of what was happening. One woman stepped off the horse.
"You must go alone with your child. I will wait here." The horse galloped across the village and entered a tunnel. It emerged in a grassy field. The woman jumped off her horse and grabbed her baby.
"Great Deku Tree, I beg you, please... take care of and guide my child. Insure his destiny is carried out."
"I shalt do this. He shalt become a hero. Thou sense an evil entering this peaceful village. Thou time... has come."
The dark leader of the thieves stomped into the village on his horse. The woman who was waiting turned to see the butt end of a sword swing towards her.
"Thank you great Deku Tree," muttered Link's mother. The dark horse ran into the field and straight towards her as she knelt down and shut her eyes....
"...Thank you..."
