Sonnet 01

I have never minded your microscope

Nor the body parts in the fridge or your

Disregard for the solar system, pope,

and politics but savour how you pour

tea when I ask and even when I don't.

Your drug addiction makes me worry but

I know your brain will not change so I won't

try to change your ways. When your door is shut

you sometimes let me in because you need

me though you may deny it to yourself.

I can see it in your eyes; tears that bead

and threaten to fall down onto the shelf.

You insist that you do not have a heart

but in my search, I do know where to start.
