We were sitting in the diner, listening to the jukebox, when suddenly the music stopped and the power went out.

"Fuck," Amanda mutters.

"Sorry people, I gotta kick you out," Carl, the diner manager, says regretfully. Amanda and I grab our stuff and leave the diner. It's raining heavily, so we run to Amanda's house, which is closer than mine.

"Wait! I think I left my wallet in the diner!" Amanda says frantically.

"Can't we go get it later?"

"No! We need to get it now."

I sigh. "Fine. Let's go." We begin running back in the direction of the diner, this time with my umbrella covering us.

When we get back to the diner, we find that Carl has already left and locked up the building.

"Fuck. Fucking fuck." Amanda gives the door to the diner a sharp kick.

"Calm your self. If the door is locked then no one will be able to steal your wallet."

Amanda sighs. "Fine; let's go back to my house." We walk quickly through the pounding rain. As we pass Justin's Tavern, a distinct figure exits; Amanda doesn't notice him.

"Hey, let's cross the street here," I say, hoping to avoid that View douchebag.

"Why?"

"Just move-"

"Why hello there, ladies." Too late; dammit.

"Oh; oops," Amanda mutters.

"Looks like you two got caught in the rain."

"No shit." I clench my fist to stop myself from doing something I know I'll regret later.

"Would you like me to drive you-"

"No, thank you." I quickly start walking across the street with Amanda.

"Let me know if you ever change your mind!" he shouts to us over the wind.

"Fuck off, Chambers!" I shout back. "The only time you'll be driving me somewhere will be when I'm in a black limo inside a pine box!"
