Confessions of a Slytherin Girl

Who am I? Well, right now I'm a housewife in a nice flat in London, happily married, with two healthy children. Oh, you're not here for that aren't you? You're here for my tales at Hogwarts. The seven years of my life devoted to learning and fighting.

I was sorted into Slytherin. You might have seen me around or might have not. I assume to most I was just another girl placed in Slytherin. Slytherin, the house that brings fear, respect, and distaste. But mostly distaste. Being in Slytherin means I was well aware of what went on in my house even if I didn't play such a huge part in it. That also means I know all the nasty little secrets about the most prominent families in the wizarding world.

Don't think I'm going to start rattling on about my friends' secretes. We are a family and I don't share dirty laundry. Who knows you might be a Squib or a Mudblood and God knows what you would need or do with the information I'm giving. I am simply here to inform all those who need informing.

Let's start with the biggest stereotype of them all: You are placed into Slytherin because you are a dick/bitch AKA overall meanie.

No.

Nowhere does it mention meanness in our school song or whatever the Sorting Hat feeds to the first years. It mentions blood purity, being cunning, and having ambitions. Do you see the word mean in there? Sure, blood purity can trick you but its a word. It doesn't say Death Eater. The Weasels are pure-bloods and they all get sent into Gryffindork.

For the record, I am a pure-blood.

And also for the record, I'm not that mean. I'm not claiming to be the most ingenuous woman in all of Britain but I'm not Satan's wife either. I'm just a magical being. None of us are angels and none of us are devils. There were some very nice people in Slytherin and there were some people so mean that even other Slytherins thought they were going too far.

Narcissa Malfoy, according to my father, was very polite and not overly mean. Millicent might have looked like she was going to beat you up but she cared very deeply about her cat and fought for animal rights. Pansy and Draco were all lovey-dovey to each other and as mean as they may seem, there is no way in Hell that they could have been so affectionate to one another if they were as mean as people make them out.

Sometimes our need to fulfil our ambitions can make us a bit rude to other people(As anybody who interrupted my studying knows) but mean? Only in the badmouthing done by Gyffindorks.

Come again next time, I have plenty more confessions to say and also feel free to ask any questions about Slytherin, if its interesting or asked enough I just might answer it.
