INTRO – About Watamote:
Watashi Ga Motenai No Wa Dou kangaetemo Omaera Ga Warui or "No matter how you look at it, it's you guys fault I'm not popular" (Watamote for short) is a slice of life and "cringe comedy" manga (and now anime) about the misfortunes of Tomoko Kuroki, an otaku girl that has over 1,000 lovers…in eroge games and believes she will be popular once entering high school. A month passes…and she hasn't made even a single friend.
This girl is just like Moemura without the redeeming qualities. She's also a pettanko, does average to badly in academics due to spending all nights playing eroges and watching anime (and has L like bags under the eyes), does badly in sports, is very perverted and has a warped view of the world due to believing the rules of anime apply to her world and many fans believe she also suffers from both depression (in episode 1 she shows suicidal tendencies) and social anxiety (she becomes a blabbering mess when trying to talk with people). She is also very bitter, looking down on the rest of the world and wishing all the other "normal people" a slow and painful death…
I watched the first four released episodes and have to admit the author made a very detailed and realistic portrait of someone with social anxiety and depression which has made many fans think it "hits too close to home" and according to some, the author is even worse than "two Urobuchis". Poor girl can't get a break and according to the manga readers "it will only get worse…"
So Tomoko's character is begging to be trolled by Kyubey and I thought, why not? XD
