The End Before the beginning

He looked at her in shock. He didn't want it to be her who said that to him. He couldn't comprehend it. This wasn't how it was supposed to be.
She was also in shock. She had never meant to go that far. She saw the flash of pain in his eyes, but it didn't stay. The cover that is usually there returned and she didn't feel as bad as she had about it. If her was going to cover all of his pain up like that, she could go even further.
James smirks, " You really mean that?" His voice breaks slightly at the end.
Lily glares at the face he is wearing right now, knowing it was only a mask. She glares only at the antagonist in his face. The one she has come to loathe. Of course there was the sweet James, the one who was decent. The one she could relate to at times. This one annoyed her and quite frankly scared her at times.
" What? That you are a dumb prat that must get his head out of his ass. And that you are the absolute worst person that I have ever met. And that it is a complete disgrace to even know. Yes." At that moment, Lily's wall broke. The pain that it was taking her to say this could be read on her face. Her voice breaks at the end of her final statement. " Good-bye, James. Just a piece of advice. Be yourself, not this."
She turns, hoping to get away from him before her sobs come out. She doesn't make it far, maybe ten feet before he follows her, grabs her arm and kisses her. Her tears mix with the few that creeped out from his eyes.
Lily pushes James away. She shakes her head. " No. Be yourself. This may be what you want. But this won't change anything. You need to figure out yourself before you can come anywhere near me again. Just try this time. Find me when you really figure it out." She turns and walks away as fast as she can without running.
