Souta was just bringing his chopsticks to his mouth when the front door banged open. He felt himself being lifted roughly to his feet and a clawed hand clamped over his neck. He held back a sigh, watching mournfully as his plate of oden clattered to the floor.
"Where is she?" the scaled intruder demanded around a pair of yellow fangs, giving it a slight lisp. This time Souta sighed aloud.
"Kagome! I've been taken hostage again!" the boy shouted upstairs to his older sister. He heard the water turn off and a door open.
"Kay! I'll be there in a second!" came an annoyed voice. The door slammed shut.
"She was in the bath," he informed his captor, obviously bored. Before it could respond they all heard the door open again and stomping coming towards them. A dripping and annoyed-looking Kagome appeared at the top of the stairs, muttering under her breath something about stupid demons with their stupid timing and how they always come whenever she's taking a bath and can't they ever just leave her alone for a minute. She glared down for a second, then pounded down the stairs, the too-small pink pajama bottoms brushing the tops of her ankles with every step and the back of her pink tanktop was steadily getting wetter thanks to her soap-streaked black hair. She stopped in front of the intruder.
"Save me. Help. Help," Souta said in a monotone voice.
"Don't worry Souta, I'll protect you even if it costs me my life," Kagome replied in an equally monotone response. An old man with white hair entered from another room.
"Oh no. Demon." Grandpa threw several pieces of paper at the overgrown lizard, showing no surprise whatsoever when nothing happened. The demon meanwhile was looking between the three of them, obviously spooked. Ms. Higurashi came out from the kitchen. Her eyes fell on the demon, then the broken plate on the floor. She sighed, then went back into the kitchen to grab a broom and a dustpan.
"Grandpa, leave. I'll take care of this. Oh no. It's too strong. I don't have my bow. Whatever shall I do," Kagome said without emotion. She paused. "Am I forgetting something?"
"InuYasha," Souta reminded her helpfully.
"Oh yeah. INUYASHA!!!" The sudden scream startled the demon.
"Don't!" it hissed. "I don't know what's wrong with you humans, but you're coming with me!" It released Souta leaving him to crash on the floor and grabbed Kagome.
"Kagome," Souta said, still monotone.
"Kagome," Grandpa echoed.
"Oh no," the girl in question began. "InuYasha. Help me." Pink began to emanate from where the demon had grabbed her. It screamed, releasing her, and stared in horror as the pink destroyed its hands and began working its way upward in an increasingly fast pace. Soon the demon was gone entirely. InuYasha's head poked in the open dining room window.
"Someone call me?" He caught sight of the dust pile on the floor. "Oh. Nevermind." He vanished again. Ms. Higurashi came back form the kitchen and bent down to sweep up the broken glass and demon dust.
"I suppose I'll have to make some more oden," she stated mildly. Kagome perked up.
"Oden?"

A/N: Yay! I finished my first story! Yeah, I know it's a oneshot but hey! It's still done! Not like all my others… It's not that great, but the idea has been floating around in my head for a while I finally decided to jot it down. So here you are!
