He just loved sitting in his cave with a good book.

The others knew not to bother him whenever he'd be stretched out on his furs, legs bent up and swinging lazily in the air as he lost himself in the pages before his excited eyes. The best parts where when the heroine was at her wits end, afraid of what might happen if she were to let go, to give in –

He found himself nervously chewing on a claw as he struggled along with the wind-swept woman, perched upon her high bluff: hair whipping around the low-cut, very sheer dress, nervously awaiting the fate her gorgeous dominant captor had threatened. He could almost feel the warm wind! Shivering in anticipation, his mind's eye pictured the haughty, absolute apex of imagined masculinity and outwardly sighed in smitten response.

"Kouga – we're going to have to go hunt soon! We're all hungry!" whined Hakkaku at the dreaming ookami, engrossed in his treasure.

Kouga hated, hated being interrupted during the juicy parts of the story – it just killed the fantasy! Grrrr… just when they were getting to the good part too. Claw slipping between the well-worn pages to mark his place, the wolf prince roared off his furry bedding and snapped his jaws in the obnoxious interloper's paling face.

"I… am… READING!!!" he snarled in a booming roar that left no room for any argument.

Tails between their legs, Ginta and Hakkaku scurried over the wet mouth of the cave and huddled in a nervous pile to await their leader's return from the heady land of the romance novel.

"I wish we'd never pilfered through Sister Kagome's pack looking for jewel shards, Ginta." rued Hakkaku, shaking his head.

"Me too. We're going to starve, Hakkaku." His companion pouted with a sigh.
