It Whispers, So Listen Closely
"So that settles it. We're Splitting Up. From now on it's every herd for itself." Cera's father declared.
Littlefoot had been playing what he heard over in his mind for the past few hours. It was night already, and his grandparents had gone to sleep. They were old, so sleep came easily to them.
Littlefoot had tried to close his eyes and drift off into happier times in his dreams, but his dreams took him back to that faraway place, where his mother's body lay, and he could do nothing for her as she died right before him.
"Why can't Cera's father realize that were all in this together?" Littlefoot pondered as he opened his eyes.
"It seems like he's had it in for me, since I met him and Cera years ago!" He remembered.
Cera and him met before they even reached the Great Valley, they were born "out there."
"Here we are again. Back in the place where we all were born. It's interesting, out here we're always running away, from sharpteeth, earth shakes, bad leaders and prejudices." Littlefoot continued to think.
He then got up and walked out about 50 yards from the place where the dinosaur herds were camped.
"That makes life a lot more educational. I've been from one side of this continent to the other and I wonder what's still out there?" He wondered.
Littlefoot looked up at the stars, trying to find a sign from those above him.
Then he saw a constellation of stars that looked like a Long Neck.
"I really miss you mom." Littlefoot said as he looked at formation of stars.
"I remember what you said to me all those years ago, about how we all keep to our own kind." Littlefoot continued.
"Yet I've gained so much from being with these herds, especially with Cera, Ducky, Petrie and Spike." Littlefoot spoke to the stars.
"Wherever you are mother, I want to tell you that the five of us are a close knitt family and I feel that together we can survive this." Littlefoot continued.
"Gramma & Grampa have said that theirs nothing we can do to change this imposed situation, but I remember you told me to let my heart guide me...so mother...I ask this...and please answer...what should I do?" Littlefoot asked into the wind.
The cold air whistled against his body. Littlefoot closed his eyes and took a deep breath of the cold air.
Littlefoot remembered what his mother said, and he listened closely.
"Littlefoot...let your heart guide you....it whispers....so listen closely." His mother's last words echoing in his memory.
"Go west, young man." A voice whispered.
"Huh?" Littlefoot opened his eyes.
It was a male voice that had whispered in his ear.
Littlefoot looked around. There wasn't any dinosaur or bird or creature near him. His gaze then returned to the constellation Long-Neck that was suspened in the ongoing night sky, which was illuminated by the night circle in the sky.
He stared at the formation of stars for a long time, and then he thought of a plan that was risky, but carried a much better safety expectancy for the herds.
He then turned his attention back to the herds of dinosaurs and started walking back. He was going to wake up Petrie and get the others.
Yet before he got off to a good pace, he looked back at the constellation Long-Neck and wondered about what he had just heard.
"Father...?" Littlefoot thought.
