A/N: Written for the gx_100 challenge for the group: Fujiwara/Fubuki/Ryou and the prompt #095 – Just Once.
Just This Once
Ryou was not a big fan of chocolate, which Fubuki thought was rather a shame considering the amount he had amassed from Duel Academia's female population on that year's Valentine's Day. Naturally, Fubuki had gained quite a collection as well, but he was the sort who basked in the collective hyperthermia – excluding the ones his little sister had sent him naturally. Asuka was many things, but a cook was not one of them. Sometimes he wondered whether she made them extra bitter on purpose just so he could distinguish them from every other gift he received. Not that that stopped him from devouring them.
Even Fujiwara – always patient and polite – would not eat every sweet wrapper he was given, although he was never able to openly decline them. In contrast, Ryou simply turned them away and left a trail of broken hearts, behind which Fubuki was more than happy to lag and patch up. That alone was enough to show the artificiality of their attention, but as Fujiwara wisely pointed out, there was commonly a very large difference between someone who wanted to admire from afar and one who truly cared – despite how it appeared at surface value.
It was at times like this, Ryou reflected, that his little brother was perhaps the more fortunate; he was at least spared this burden beneath his elder brother's shadow.
'Oi.' Fubuki was not privy to being ignored. 'C'mon Ryou. You can't ignore my chocolate.'
'Are you a girl now Fubuki?' Ryou signed, knowing nothing would deter his friend.
'What does that matter? Valentine's just an excuse to give chocolate to people you like.'
'I believe the idea was romantic attraction.'
'Ah, who cares about that?'
A look at Fujiwara showed soft amusement; evidently, he was not going to be of help to either side.
Ryou opened his mouth again – he wasn't sure why – but quickly shut it as he saw the brunet's hand move. Instantly, the other's face melted into its classical puppy-dog appearance. Overused, but still somehow extremely effective.
'No –'Ryou began, inwardly groaning.
The look intensified.
His resolve cracked. 'Fine,' he growled, surrendering. 'Just this once.'
Fubuki instantly grinned and began to shove chocolate into the other's mouth.
'Don't choke him,' Fujiwara cautioned with a laugh.
Ryou may have had something to say to that if he could speak. Sadly, it was very difficult with a mouth full of overly sweet chocolate.
