Another Night, Another Nightmare

A low moan reached Sam, and he snapped instantly awake. He sat up, flicking on the lamp and gazing at Dean's restless form. His brother was experiencing another nightmare. "Dean!"

Dean flinched awake, and Sam caught a glimpse of pained fear before Dean's long-standing defensive wall slid into place, leaving his eyes empty and his face expressionless. " 'M fine," he mumbled.

"No, you're not. Wanna talk about it?"

"Nothing to say."

"Remember how you talked me through nightmares when we were little? Let me help you now."

"Not tonight."

"But eventually?"

"Maybe," Dean whispered in the now darkened room.
