A Touch of Love

First Meeting

At this very moment in the town of Coeur d'Coeurs young Ned was six years, eight months and twenty-three days old. Having recently moved into the neighbourhood, their adjacent neighbour, Charles Charles, who had previously worked alongside Ned's father, invited the family to dinner.

Arriving at the house the boy made to follow his parents indoors, but instead he was sent into the back yard to meet the young Charles. Taking care not to step on discarded toys strewn over the slightly overgrown grass, young Ned made his way into the garden but stopped suddenly.

There under a tree sat a young girl with long, chestnut hair, wide eyes and a sparkling smile. She was the most beautiful creature the boy had ever seen. Unsure of how to behave, he cast his mind back to the black and white films he had watched with his mother, in which young men presented beautiful girls with bunches of flowers. With no bunches of flowers at his disposal young Ned improvised.

Charlotte Charles, who at this moment was six years, two months and seventeen days old, would always remember whilst in her garden one evening, turning her head and meeting a daisy. She would also remember following the arm holding it to the face of a young boy; a face so fresh it seemed to breathe new life. She took the weed and smiled at the boy, who smiled back.

And now the young boy is a pie maker and the young girl is his previously-dead-alive-again sweetheart. Having brought the girl he called Chuck back to life with his magic touch, another touch from the pie maker would cause her to die . . . again.

Permanently.

End.
