Through the window daylight could be seen slowly merging in to night. Lately, all these days spent in the office writing letters and penning speeches had made the days turn in to nights, or so Lillian had thought. Sealing the last of the letters, Lillian let out a relieved sigh and took a long sip of her tea. Glancing around the great room, her eyes landed on the bookcase and she wondered to herself, 'Has Harold even read half of these?' Shaking the thought out of the head, she placed her cup down and tidied up the desk. Ever since Harold had been turned back in to frog from, Lillian had had to do all the written aspects of the job on behalf of the both of them, meaning that much of her time had been spent in the office, seeing very little of anything else. Exhausted, Lillian had just taken her hair out of its golden net when there was a knock on the door. "Come in", she sighed. One of the king's attendants popped his head round the door, "Your majesty, if you are finished with your work, the king is requesting that you go and see him". Raising an eyebrow she replied, "Of course, thank you Carter".

Knocking quietly, Lillian entered their bedroom. It had changed somewhat over time in order to accommodate the kings' new form, he had been asked if he wanted his own separate room, but Harold did not want to be apart from Lillian. Reaching the kings water bed, she noticed he was asleep. Lifting a finger she gently caressed his green cheek; most of his characteristics had remained the same, such as his goatee and brown eyes, but no matter what form he had taken, Lillian would always remain to love him. "Ah Lillian, you're here", a voice snapped her out of her daydream. "Of course I'm here silly, where else would I be?" Harold pulled a face and wheezily laughed a little, "No need to be cheeky", reaching out and taking hold of her finger. "Carter told me that you wanted to see me?", Lillian replied. "Did I ever tell you how beautiful you look with your hair down, dear?" "No, thank you, but don't try and change the subject, why did you want to see me so urgently?" Harold kissed her hand and looked deep in to her eyes, "We have to talk".

"NO! No I refuse to believe it! There has to be something, you are the king for heaven's sake!", Lillian sobbed. "Darling please don't cry, this subject is inevitable, we both knew it was coming", Harold spoke gently. Turning away from him and wiping away her tears, Lillian replied, "I know, I know. But so soon? Harold you are not that old, and you were a human before so the…". "There is nothing that can be done. Yes, for a human I am not that old, but as a frog I'm afraid I have outlived myself. I am dying Lillian, and we must accept that". After what seemed like an eternity of silence, Lillian let out a sigh and replied, "I cannot imagine my life without you. I need you, and I love you too much". "I know it is hard to come to terms with my love, but if you love me, you need to learn to let me go". Carefully picking Harold up, Lillian looked him straight in the eye and softly kissed him. "We have nothing left to do Lillian as we have done it all. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me". "Oh Harold, you have nothing to thank me for". "Oh but I do! You taught me how to live and how to love, you blessed me with a daughter, and even now you are here for me when I need to you. Never change my darling, I love you Lily, and I always will". With a single tear Lillian replied, "I love you too, my little frog". Harold smiled warmly and reached a hand to her cheek, "Now that's settled, its best we call for Fiona"
