Chapter 1
Getting Back to Normal
It had been two days since he was back.
The most perfect two days in the history of their relationship.
She was staring at him. Her hands moving the blonde hair from his face.
He wasn't Jim.
But he was at the same time.
This was her husband in a different man's body and that's all that mattered. Even if it didn't feel like Jim's hands or his lips or his statute. It was still his persona. His heart.
The sun streaked through curtains slowly. The sun was rising.
"How long have you been staring at me?" He grunts.
"I'm admiring you. There's a difference." She says smugly. "Almost an hour."
"I'm sorry for not being there." He says sitting up a little.
"Jim..." She shakes her head.
"I mean it. For those two months I wasn't there mentally and it had to of killed you." He whispers. "And I'm sorry."
"Don't be. You're here now." She says and kisses him. "That's all that matters."
"How is everyone? My mom, Bobby, Tim, Sulley?" He asks.
"Their grieving. I think the whole town is…" She sighs. "You were loved."
"And now they're going to see you with this Sam guy… two months after I supposedly died." He says and shakes his head.
"I don't care what anyone else thinks. You are my husband…" She says as he pulls her onto his chest.
"We should probably just stick to affection here and maybe the store." He says. "I don't want people…"
"Okay. That's reasonable but I just got you back, Jim. I need some time with you." She croaks.
"Take all the time you need." He says and caresses her cheek. "I'm right here."
"I know." She sighs. "I never thought that I'd be with you again. To have you hold me… kiss me... or touch me ever again. I died when you did. Without I don't know what I would do…"
"Hey… I'm here and I'm not going anywhere." He says and holds her in his arms.
His hands creeping up her spine as he soothes her cries.
His rough hands creating more friction against her soft and delicate skin.
"It's so different, ya know…" She whispers. "You feel so different."
"Is it weird?" He asks.
"What?" She says, her doe eyes grazing over his complexion. "Is what weird?"
"Feeling a different me against you?" He questions.
"Definitely. I mean… you were my first." She mutters. "My only."
"Well at least Sam's cut." He says and smiles.
"You're so inappropriate. Here I am trying to have an emotional moment and all you have to say is that?" She laughs.
"I was just trying to make you smile. It's been a while since I last saw it." He says and moves a strand of hair from her face.
"I love you." I say and touch his cheek before pulling his lips to mine. "I love you so much."
"I love you too." He says. "Are you going into work today?"
"No. I'll either have Delia go in or close the shop for a few days." I say as I feel him climb on top of me. "What on earth are you doing?"
"I'm going to make love to you… if that's okay?" He laughs and smooches my neck.
"Go right ahead." She smirks and then feels his lips wander…
*A few hours later*
"I'm going to go over to Delia's and check in. If you want to come you are certainly welcome too." She says peeling herself from her husband.
"I think I am going to take a nap and regenerate all of that lost energy for when you get home." He yawns.
"Okay hun." She says and walks into her closet.
"Wait… Face me one last time. I have to save this image in my mind." He says.
"No." She answers while looking through her clothing for something warm. It was chilly out. It was January. "I'm not coming back out there."
"Please babe." He whines.
"Ugh. Fine." She laughs and walks slowly out of her closet. "Happy?"
"Thank God, you didn't change." He says and smirks.
"Yeah, whatever." She says and walks back into the confined space.
These were the moments that she missed the most with him.
Not that the sex wasn't amazing because it definitely was.
She just missed the moments where it was just them being goofballs in love.
"How does this look?" She asks throwing on a pair jeans and a grey sweater shall with a tight white t-shirt underneath.
She knew that he would say looked beautiful no matter how terrible of an outfit it may have been.
"I love it. Wear comfortable shoes though. No heels." He comments.
"Wow. Some actual feedback." She whispers and holds up a pair of ballet flats. "How about these?"
"Those would look good. You look beautiful." He says as she adds a locket Jim had gotten her the year prior for their anniversary and then tied her hair up into a side braid and through on a beanie. "New style. I like."
"Thanks." She quips and leans down onto the bed to kiss him. "Have a good nap. I shouldn't be long. Want anything while I'm out?"
"Some ice cream would be nice." He yawns and throws himself into a pillow and mesh of blankets. "Love you."
"I love you too." She says and blows him a kiss before closing the bedroom door behind her.
She definitely loved him.
That's for sure.
