Neji jumps onto the lake and away from Lee, sending ripples across the surface. Taking a moment to balance on the surface, he activates his byakugan and watches Lee's motions carefully.
There. His muscles tensing, so... now.
"Hah!" The green beast of Konoha jumps towards Neji and lashes out again, and Neji ducks to avoid his super-fast roundhouse kick. There is a huge boom, and birds scatter from the forest as Lee collides with the lake's surface and sends water flying everywhere.
Lee recovers immediately and follows up with a barrage of fists and kicks, so fast they look like blurry lines, and Neji can barely keep up with his gentle fist. He knows that their attacks are too fast for any eye to follow; Lee has grown much stronger these past few days, probably because of their daily fights with each other.
Just wait until Tenten comes out of hiding, he thinks to himself, trying to stay afloat. Then it'll be even harder.
But Neji likes these play fights, likes the way they can spend time together and have fun even though they're all jounin now. He likes how he can still predict his teammates' moves, and also how they still manage to surprise him. He likes the way it keeps their friendship alive and...youthful, for lack of a better word (he would never be caught dead saying such a thing out loud, though).
For now, he concentrates on winning, on dodging a sudden barrage of weapons thrown from a tree across the lake. The loser has to treat them to dinner, after all, and god knew how much they ate after such exercise.
