The Call

Danny Tanner was cooking a spaghetti dinner with breadsticks and salad. His wife, Pam, had called earlier saying that she was in the mood for Italian food so Danny agreed to prepare the meal. D.J. was in her room doing homework, Stephanie was playing in her room, and Michelle was down for a nap. Danny looked at the time and saw that Pam was late in coming home-an hour to be precise.

Danny was getting really worried. It wasn't like Pam to be this late. Just then, the phone rang. Danny went over to the phone to answer it.

"Hello?" Danny said.

"Is this Danny Tanner?" the caller asked.

"Yes, it is. May I ask who's calling?"

"This is Officer Tentmanson. I'm with the San Francisco Police. Your wife has been in a drunk driving accident."

"My wife doesn't even drink."

"It was the driver that ran into your wife that was drinking."

"Is my wife all right?"

"I'm afraid she's dead. I'm really sorry, Mr. Tanner."

"Thanks for letting me know."

"Do you need me to break the news to your family and friends?"

"I'll take care of it."

"All right, then, I'll let you get started."

"Bye, Officer Tentmanson."

"Bye, Mr. Tanner."

Danny hung up the phone in shock. He was wondering how he was going to break the news to his daughters that their mother was dead.

Just then, D.J. and Stephanie came downstairs. They saw that dinner was ready and headed for the table.

"Girls, before we eat, I have some bad news," Danny said.

"Where's Mom?" D.J. asked.

"She was killed by a drunk driver," Danny explained.

"Does that mean we'll never see her again?" Stephanie asked.

"I'm afraid so," Danny said.

Danny, D.J., and Stephanie wrapped their arms around each other. They grieved the loss of their lost family member and released each other several minutes later.

"What about Michelle?" Stephanie asked.

"We'll let her know when she gets older," Danny said.

"Good thinking, Dad. Now let's get some dinner," D.J. said.

Danny had his daughters sit down and he got some food for them and himself. Then he sat down and the three of them started eating.
