Summary: …why did you let me leave you then?
Disclaimer: Well characters at all belong to Jerry Bruckheimer and those cool people over there who are so not me.
Feedback: I'd be honoured ;)
Spoilers: "King Baby"- Spoilers (my way to let it end)

She's eating calamari in one of the fine restaurants in Las Vegas while thinking, why she's there now after all that happened in the last few months.

A week ago she asked herself a question.

"How did they ever get to where they are now?"

To start from the beginning it was then when she asked him if he didn't consider to suggest her as new supervisor for dayshift. And then he said he already has done that.

She never really wanted to leave and it broke her heart as he said he already did consider that.

He on the opposite knew that he had to do it as a good friend, but he never actually thought she'd ask him if he would let her go and walk out of his life.

He wanted the best for her. He wanted her to be happy.

But how could she be happy without him?

She simply couldn't.

Well, then Ecklie said she won't become days but swingshift supervisor.

One way or the other she had to leave her old team. And she thought it was hard enough for him to lose one team member, as Ecklie told her she'd be working with Nick and Warrick.

Nick and Warrick? She had to think of Gil. Together they made Nick and Warrick to be really good CSIs. Together they taught them.

But what is hurting most is that she won't nearly see him at all. She'll be going when he's starting to work. And that's why they won't have "their" breakfasts no more.

She isn't quite sure if she started all this disaster by asking him back then.

Or if it was him by telling her he already had suggested her for days.

But she doesn't mind whose fault it was. Sometimes it's just not meant to be.

All this has happened a few months ago.

Now she's having dinner with him, and well they talked about everything. And they might not work together in a team anymore.

Or maybe they again do after what happened today.

But at least they are living their lives together now.

Well it took them 20 years and one big business breakdown to share their feelings for each other.

She doesn't know who of them wanted to have dinner with the other one in the first place, and she doesn't know why they finally talked about their personal feelings.

"Sometimes it's just right without any reasons."

When one door closes another one opens. And this one is leading them into a better life, together.

THE END
