"Professor Shorn wanted us to list these," Amanda gestured to a list of words on a PADD. "In increasing order of wavelength- the characteristic that generally sets apart these types of radiation..."

"Mhmm." The blonde boy next to her hummed, paying more attention to his tutor than the assignment in front of him. He didn't realize she had stopped talking until she turned toward him and cocked one gently slanted eyebrow.

"Sam, are you even listening to me?" She asked, partly amused and partly annoyed.

"Of course!" Sam defended faux-indignantly. In truth, Sam had already known how to go about the homework, he just didn't see the point in doing it alone as apposed to being tutored by Amanda, the most beautiful girl in his class at the learning center. He could tell the difference between different types of radiation, no sweat- but watching Amanda talk about science was even better. Intelligence was hot.. "First Gamma, then X-Ray, then UV, then- "

"I haven't said anything about the order, yet." She remarked dryly. "You already know the material, don't you?"

Sam smirked. "Yup." He twirled a few strands of her curled, shiny-black locks in his left hand. "Has anyone ever told you that you balance intelligence and beauty just right?" He waggled his eyebrows. Amanda frowned as she looked at the chronometer on the PADD.

"Sam, if you came for what I think you came for, you should probably leave. My dad's gonna be here any minute." Sam sighed and looked at her with big, dazzling blue eyes. Her eyebrow shot up higher.

"I can't stay for just... a few more minutes?" He leaned closer, and she did the same.

"I guess you could..." They were so close, her lips rubbed against his as she spoke. And then, abruptly, she straightened and handed him his PADD back. "But it would be highly illogical for you to do so." She smirked at him and stood, gesturing toward the door. Sam sighed dramatically and got to his feet also.

"Thwarted once again in my plans..." He said to her as she pressed the button to open the door. She froze, but he kept talking. "You will be mine, Amanda, even if it's the last thing I do!" He turned to exit, but ran into a broad, blue uniform-clad chest instead. He cursed mentally, and swallowed as he looked up.

"Oh, hey, Commander Spock..." Sam used his official title instead of just 'Mr'.

"What are you doing in the quarters of my family, Samuel Kirk?"

Amanda cut in. "We were just studying, Baba." She gestured over to the couch, where her PADD still sat off to the side of where she had herself. Sam gave her a grateful look over his shoulder. She nodded minutely, smiling a little.

The corners of Spock's mouth twitched downward at the small exchange, wondering if that was really all they had been doing. He looked down at the captain's son, who had stated he would take his daughter away from him. He could not allow this, not this soon. Amanda was only fifteen, as was Samuel Kirk. This boy could not possibly understand commitment, and was therefore most likely seeking to take advantage of his daughter.

"Leave, Mr. Kirk." Sam was relieved to be able to do so, and stepped around him to dash back to his family's quarters.
