Simple

It really was a simple thing. Everyone was born with one. Everyone had one.

A watch. A small digital watch with a number of days, hours, minutes and seconds on it. Well, it wasn't really a watch, as it was embedded into your skin and there was no way to get it off, but it was known as the watch. A ring of colour was around the watch, often green, sometimes blue.

Her mother told her she shouldn't be afraid. All of her siblings had the same countdown. One of them had already completed theirs. Another was close.

She couldn't help panicking. This wasn't the setting any sane Gryffindor would want to meet their love. The House of Black, a notoriously Slytherin family, had a very Slytherin home, and she hated it.

One hour. One hour left until the entire path of her whole life was determined. What if her soulmate was a dick? What if they hated her? What if-

She needn't panic. It would be easy. Her brother Bill told her that it would actually be very simple. He had met his soulmate not that long ago, and she was beautiful, but very annoying.

Fifty-six minutes. Ginny readjusted her hair, applied another coat of lipstick. She wished she had more time for her chest to grow. She could just stuff her bra with socks...

No. She must look like herself when she met her soulmate. There was no point in trying to pronounce her breasts if she didn't look like that normally.

Fifty-two minutes. Hermione came in, asking if she wanted to listen to the meeting with them. She nodded. Hermione grabbed her hand, and led her to where everyone was gathered. "Why are you all dressed up?" Her youngest brother, Ron, asked her.

Fred looked at him in surprise. "Obviously it's the day she is meeting her soulmate."

The meeting went on, and they didn't find out much. The Order were guarding something, blah blah.

They still knew more than Harry.

Five minutes. The meeting was finally over. Hermione sent a supportive smile to Ginny; she had already met her soulmate. No one would have thought it, but the Italian pureblood and English muggle-born were apparently destined for each other. They hadn't met until second year, when they were made to work together on a potions project.

Love was a strange thing.

Three minutes and two seconds. She was nervous. She was going to meet someone she had never met before, and they were going to be her soulmate.

God, that was scary.

Three minutes. Her mum called them downstairs. Ginny slowly rose to her feet, gulping. It would be fine. Everything would be fine.

By the time she reached the bottom of the stairs, it was down to one minute. There were people dotted around from the Order meeting. Ginny spotted her brother Bill, and waved. He noticed her clock, and sent a questioning look. She nodded in reply.

Thirty seconds. A lady with royal purple hair stumbled over to her. Ginny smiled as she tripped over someone's foot.

Ten seconds. The lady pulled herself to her feet. "Hello, I'm Tonks," she said, sticking her hand out.

Her watch clicked as it completed. She stuck her hand out to reach Tonks'. 0d, 0h, 0m, 0s.

Curious, she looked at Tonks'. One second left. "I'm Ginny."

Realisation dawned, and a smile spread across Tonks' face.
