It's the start and the end
of a glaciers path.
Snow falls down to the earth,
During winter remaining frozen,
Spring temperatures aren't high.
Winter comes again,
Previous snow left untouched.
In hundreds of years ice builds up,
Sliding down the hill with weight.
More granular snow builds up,
Firn lets water through,
While other ice melts and,
On top is snow untouched.
Growing ? Shrinking? Staying the same?
Added snow is greater than melt,
This is zone of accumulation.
The bottom which outputs melt,
Equals zone of ablation.
When accumulation minus ablation,
Equals zero, neither occurs.
Traveling down eroding land.
Cirques, striations, arretes,
Being left behind.
Pyramidal peaks and hanging valleys,
With waterfalls coming down.
Along the sides is lateral moraine;
Deposited as the glacier passes.
When two glaciers meet,
Resultant is medial moraine.
Erratics are deposited randomly,
All throughout the glacier's path.
