Identity

Chapter One

Whenever a situation was presented with the need to extract information, there was one crew member who excelled in getting whatever they wanted, and this was no different from other problems in the past for the navigator of the Mugiwaras. Nami was reviewing the plan on her desk, nerves making her grip her pencil a bit harder than necessary but eyes determined to find the best route to the next island. The only problem was, of course, the lack of money the crew currently had.

'If they had listened to me I wouldn't need to steal so much.' She thought with frustration, thinking about where all her Belli had unfortunately went towards.

Sanji needed new knives to be able to cut through the bigger creatures they found in the New World, so that made sense. She trusted his need for new equipment and funded it without a second thought, especially since he was in charge of feeding nine mouths.

"I'll be sure to cook you the best dinner of your life, Nami-swan~!" Promised the chef with his iconic heart eyes. He was met with an eye roll of hers but to his credit, that dinner was delicious.

Then there was Chopper, who ran out of herbs and other medicines. He was the doctor, after all, and she couldn't remember the last time they had kept stock of their inventory. To say the reindeer didn't deserve a cut of her stash to keep them alive was an understatement.

"You think giving me money to buy for my medical office makes me happy? ~" Sang the cheery reindeer with a blush. The redhead smiled softly remembering how elated Chopper was.

Zoro on the other hand requested more booze (with Brook, Franky, and Usopp happily on his side), which was added to his already six yearlong tab that she had kept written down.

"You're such a stingy woman, but fine," the moss head complied, not really having a choice. Nami was in charge of finances, after all.

Nami looked at the notebook documenting all the money she had lent him in the past and laughed to herself. It was petty to even have it, but it was just a joke that she didn't want to let die yet. Having it just reinforced the friendship she had with the idiot. He saved her life enough times to not need to pay to enjoy himself like everyone else, she mentally justified.

Then there was the idiot captain of hers, who just….did whatever he wanted, simply because he was in charge, and because no one would stop him, either. It was difficult for the navigator to properly budget their funds if it meant he would without prior notice ask and take as much as he wanted for trivial things.

"Nami, this is important. I need this!" He had insisted, his already big eyes growing into saucers. They were on a shopping island and of course, the nineteen year old captain was captivated by a remote controlled robot that was on display in a toy store. "I can use it for….ship purposes!"

"Like what?" The red head pressed, both hands on her hips. "Luffy, this is stupid. You really don't need that!"

"It's for when I need to send messages to Usopp when he's on Sunny's top castle!" He tried justifying. She rolled her eyes.

"Luffy! You stretch!"

But it was once he placed both palms of his strong hands on both sides of her face, making it so that the only thing she could look at was him and all she could recall was how warm they were, and how warm her face got, too.

"I promise I need this. Can you help me?"

"O-okay." She replied, stutter and all, something she rarely did unless she was flustered. Which only seemed to happen per her captain's actions, something he still didn't seem to acknowledge.

Nami snapped out of her thoughts, growing increasingly irritated at that fact. It was as though Luffy knew that and still went for it to get whatever he wanted. The rational part of her brain told her that he obviously cared for her, and that he wasn't an asshole like the present situation illustrated.

But as she stared at the grand total of thirty million beli, she stretched her fingers before deciding where to go to steal and settled her eyes on a night club called DaLADIES World, a reputable joint where the wealthiest (and stealthiest) elites and other known pirates would stop by whenever they needed to reconnect with the female anatomy.

It did not occur to Nami how her crewmates would react to her decision, however.

"That's stupid. You'll get assaulted." Zoro stated, eyes still shut upon the discussion on the balcony.

"I'm not really given another option that won't guarantee us surviving financially." Nami said through clenched teeth. "Back me up, Robin. It's easy money."

Robin, sitting on Franky's shoulder, pondered a bit as she closed her cracked book. "Nami is an experienced woman who can take care of herself. I don't see the issue."

"But Nami-san," Sanji began. "I can't see someone as beautiful as you not experiencing unpleasant gestures from shitty old men."

"Nothing new," She countered, a sly smile spreading on her face. "Sanji-kun, I'll be okay. I work better in the dark anyways." She playfully winked.

"Do you plan on going alone? Want one of us to come along?" Usopp said, a frown on his face.

"I don't need a babysitter."

"Sure you do." Luffy spoke up. All other eight members looked up at their captain, surprised he finally decided to speak up. Usually he was the loudest one. The silence was unnerving. "If you plan on doing it, you're not going alone." He stated simply, each word feeling heavier than the last.

At least to Nami, it did.

"I'll go with you, Nami-swan~." Sanji said, already bowing near her legs. "I'll dropkick anyone who dares even look at you!"

"No, allow me! Maybe I can finally see someone else's panties. Oh, I forgot. I don't have eyes. Yohohoho!"

"You'll draw too much attention, Brook." Nami said. "I think a human should go." She bent to pat Chopper on the head. "No offense to some of you." She said with a smile.

"Well….Luffy should just go. Just dress up and that should work." Usopp offered, growing tired of the dragged-on plan. "The rest of us have other chores to do around the ship and I have night-watch tonight anyway."

"I second that." Robin said, smiling. "Luffy? Is that alright with you?"

"Yeah."

"Great!" Nami looked up at the sky, noticing as the sun was lowering. "It should take us a little under two hours to dock at the island so in the meantime, I'm going to work on my disguise." She laughed, walking back to her room.

Nami huffed to herself after sliding off the sixth outfit down her legs. The best part, something she wouldn't outright reveal to her nakama, was the opportunity to feel herself get the attention for her looks. I mean sure, she had it already, but it was different when all eyes were on her and when she was able to use that platform to her advantage. Being in a place where she wasn't the woman on a Wanted poster seemed so alluring.

Having a new identity, being able to absorb compliments, the boost to her already high self-esteem, just feeling sexy overall was something she was deeply excited for.

But she just couldn't decide on what to wear! Though she had dozens of options, nothing seemed enough. The redhead was dragged out of her indecisive thoughts when she heard a knock on her door.

"Who is it?"

"It's me," Her captain spoke through the door. "Can I come in?"

"Yeah, one second." Nami quickly threw on an oversized nightgown she had, that reached just above her thighs. Though it left little to the imagination, virtually all of her clothes did that. She didn't own anything with long sleeves or anything past her knees, after all. "Come in."

Luffy came in, wearing a suit she hadn't seen him wear in years. "Wow. You look great, Luffy." She said softly, a smile on her lips. He wore a black suit, with dark, gray lines across both the jacket and slacks. Instead of his sandals he had on dark loafers. The only thing that made him look less like the pirate worth over 400,000,000 beli was the lack of his signature straw hat on his head. Instead, his hair looked a bit neater, as if he had combed it, the slides slicked back. As for the scar near his eye, the captain probably went to Robin for some cover-up. She had applied a tan concealer under his eye, as if the scar didn't exist. Truly, Luffy didn't look at all like himself.

"Thanks." He said. "I figured if we're undercover we shouldn't look like our posters." He looked down at her. "Are you wearing…that?"

"No." She said, frowning. "I can't decide how to go about it. Maybe I should just wear something that'll go with your suit."

"Won't that look suspicious?"

"I don't think so. I'll wear a wig. But I'm not done so you need to leave." She said, pushing the man out of her room. "I'll be done in a bit!"

"But-"

Slam.

Nami smiled to herself.

Though it took an extra forty minutes to finally settle on a look, she was content with the results. Sometimes it's better to keep trying for something you actually enjoy over settling for less.

Her long, red mane was tied tightly underneath a wig cap, with a long, dirty blond wig resting on her head. The bangs were swept to the right, just above her eyebrows. She had curled the ends a bit, so it looked a bit wavy. The wig stopped just above her hips.

As for her face, Nami had filled in her eyebrows a bit, making the ends a bit sharper. She curled her already long eyelashes and applied a sharp wing to her eyes, with a navy eyeshadow on her lids. Because she was having so much fun with experimenting with her makeup, she decided to draw on faux freckles, figuring that it would help aid in her disguise apart from it simply being cute. She had applied a small amount of red lip balm on her lips, spreading it with her fingers.

As far as her outfit went, she decided to wear something that was not in her regular attire. She managed to find a black, strapless bodycon dress that stopped just above her mid-thigh, tight enough that it framed her curves, kept her breasts intact, and didn't rise up with movements. To assure it wouldn't happen, she had fabric tape that she stuck underneath just in case they ended up being caught, along with a blade strapped on her inner thigh in case things got out of hand (which it easily could have).

Instead of risking the possibility of tripping around in the dark club, she decided on wearing only four inch black pumps to match, with a small, navy clutch tied to her wrist.

Nami giggled to herself. 'I should go by a different name, too.' She thought, her night of roleplaying not even having begun yet but still basking in her masterpiece that was herself.

"Nami! Are you done yet?" She heard her impatient captain called, still waiting by the door.

"Come in, I want you to see!" She replied, excited to see someone else's reaction.

Twisting the doorknob, Luffy pushed the door in. "I don't understand why-"

'Oh.' Now he did.

His eyes had looked her up and down multiple times. Had not been for all the foundation on her cheeks and the rose blush she had applied, he would have noticed her cheeks warming up naturally, too. "Is it too much? Because I thought-"

"No, it looks great." He said, a smile forming on his face. "I didn't know it was possible to look so pretty." Luffy had a way with words: always saying exactly what was on his mind without processing the words until after they slipped out of his mouth.

"Thank you." She said. "But if you keep staring at me, I'll start charging you for every time you blink."

He didn't hear her, still staring, still absorbing Nami, taking in every detail of her appearance that he could, from the way the wig framed her face similarly to her own natural curls, to how her face shined under the lighting. It was pissing him off that he couldn't understand why he was just looking at her like that, but maybe it was because he had never noticed just how much of Nami he liked.

Which was, well, everything. It was making him mad just remembering that she had to walk off the ship looking like that for the attention of others.

He almost wished it was just for him.

"Luffy!" He shook his head.

"Huh?"

"We have to go, remember?" She huffed, dragging him by the arm. "You'll be my security guard for the night. Can you do that?"

"Yeah." He said, trying his hardest not to hold her hand instead.

"Oh, and when we get there, I'm not Nami. I'm…" She hesitated for a bit, still walking. "..Ami." She settled.

"Ami." He said, the name being so foreign, far from familiar. He liked 'Nami' better. "Okay. Who should I be then?"

"Itaru." Came out of her mouth would hesitation. To say that Nami never had fantasies with her captain under different names would be far from the truth.

Luffy laughed. "Okay. If things get bad, you'll call me that?"

"Mm," she agreed. "But I don't think I'll have to tonight." The navigator said as she led the way off the docks towards their destination.

A/N:

Okay. So this was just something I was thinking about, and couldn't stop running through my head. I'm thinking about making this at MAX three to four chapters, but we'll see. I usually prefer condensing it into a lengthy one-shot but decided I didn't want to keep this on my laptop without posting forever.

I was trying to read my fair intake of LuNa but there's not enough rated M's out there. SO here I am, producing my own. Leave reviews, let me know if this is worth keeping up with, I always appreciate reviews! :o)
