The red caboose took one last, loving look at the home he'd shared with the
love of his life for five years. He couldn't stay, anymore, the memories,
once happy, were too painful to bear.
Since his love had become ill, he'd found life harder and harder to deal with. A month before his love's death, CB himself had been diagnosed with the same illness. The difference was that CB had gotten treatment soon enough, while the other hadn't.
CB was going away, leaving all the pain behind him. He rolled forlornly to the cemetery. He needed to say a farewell. He knelt in front of two side-by- side headstones.
"Why." he moaned. "Why did you have to leave me for her.?"
He felt himself getting weaker. He smiled, dimly remembering how he'd thrown away the pills he needed to stay alive. He'd done it the day his love, one of the two trains in the graves, had died. The male had died first. The female had died a few days later, of a broken heart.
CB couldn't help but wonder if the others would even give a damn, if and when they found him, lying, dead, on the grave of his ex-lover. Somehow he doubted it. Despite that, he smiled again, as blackness began enveloping him.
"Why'd you have to leave me for her.?" he whispered.
The next morning, he was discovered, dead, lying on the graves of Rusty and Pearl.
