The Rise of the Guardians
Cupid
The Moon was the first thing I saw. I lay in the snow, looking up at his beautiful, white face. He stared back at me with no expression. His voice was silent, but it was clear and crisp. He told me my name was Cupid. He encouraged me to stand on my feet. I slowly stood, my chest felt sore for a moment, and then the soreness faded. I took a few deep breaths. It was cold, but it didn't seem to bother me. I looked down at my clothes. I was wearing a white, silky dress, with a golden belt. I lifted my skirt to see I was wearing sandals. Why I was wearing sandals in the snow, in the woods, I'll never know. I reached up and felt through my curly hair and felt cold metal. I was wearing a golden headband of some kind… I looked down at the snow and saw a bow. Nearby was a bag of arrows. I picked up the bow and pulled on the string a few times. A few pleasant notes rang out as I plucked at it. I walked over and went to pick up the bag. The Moon told me to look at one of the arrows. Curious, I pulled one out of the bag and noticed the tip wasn't the pointed grey stone I was used to, but a red stone shaped like a heart. I threw the bag over my shoulder and walked through the woods. I came across a town filled with happy and cheering people. I tried to greet some of them, but they ignored me. I walked up to a group of women, who were talking amongst themselves.
"Excuse me," I said. "Do any of you know where this is?" No one answered. They all looked past me and smiled. A friend walked right through me towards the group of girls. It was the strangest feeling. I shivered as another person walked right through my body as if I were made of air… Am I…a ghost?! I wondered what would happen if I tried to shoot someone with an arrow…
Curiosity had gotten the better of me. I aimed my arrow toward a man's leg. I didn't want to kill anyone, but I did want to see if I could hurt someone. I'd feel bag if I could. I aimed carefully and fired. The arrow flew straight into the man's back. I could tell he was a night, but the arrow went straight through his armor. I gasped and I could feel my eyes widen. I had only meant to shoot him in the leg…
I couldn't tell if he was hurt or not. He turned around as if to see what had hit him. He didn't see me, nut he seemed almost…desperate to find something. I wasn't sure if it was instinct or not, but I quickly figured out what it was.
A girl.
Not me unfortunately, (I found this man to be very handsome), but another girl. She happened to be in the town, talking with her friends. They were all wearing white tunics with gold accessories. I fired an arrow at her once she had her back turned to me. The arrow went into her back and she turned and looked at the man. He quickly turned and looked at her. They walked toward each other and immediately began to talk with one another. I suddenly knew my purpose. I was a Guardian. Not like others the Moon was telling me about; they protected the children. I serve the adults and those who still believe in love at first sight.
This is my idea of Cupid for Rise of the Guardians. I would like to continue it. Not sure what to do yet. I hope you enjoyed and happy Valentine's Day!
