Prologue
Her heart pounds, slamming against her ribcage furiously, trying to work its way to pump blood through to every part of her body. Hands quivering and clammy, she fumbled with the rope time and again but every futile attempt leaves her quaking, a sign of her withdrawal and also signalling to her the oncoming loss of control over herself. She didn't have much time left on the ticking clock of sanity. She had to make it. Swallowing down her saliva that had wet the cloth shoved roughly into her mouth, she attempted one last time, her vision already blurry and her brain on the verge of shutting down. How did she even manage to make it this far? She didn't know. She didn't even know how long she had seen the sky or even real sunlight for that matter. Perhaps that was what kept pushing her along the path of escape. To freedom.
Her body suddenly ceased all movement, her muscles not willing to let her last piece of sanity to take control anymore. With a sudden jerk, she screamed, an anonymous pain cutting through her gut and she finally gave in, unable to handle the physical and emotional torture and trauma they had put her through.
"Please... I'm begging you... Just one dose... I'll do anything you want..." She barely even muttered, the words just floating out of her mouth.
Even with her cloudy vision, she could see the sharp steel edges of his knife that reflected the bright white lights into her eyes. His red and orange eyes stayed fixated on her every move as violent thoughts rushed through his mind. The blood and fear in her eyes that he had seen before he rushed to her side to stop the bleeding in her chest. The guilt that had filled him when he realised the entire episode was due to him.
"I'm not going to let you go... After what you did to her... I want to watch you... Suffer in pain. In silence. In agony. Just like how you let her did." He laughed sadistically, brushing his knife against her cheek. The knife carved into her tanned skin and her blood trickled down her cheek but she couldn't protest anymore. She could feel the drug trigger working throughout her veins and she knew she needed one more shot to ease the suffering.
"Please..." She shuddered, seizing into a small ball and screaming as she felt thousands of tiny ants crawling underneath her skin and biting through her flesh, an effect of the drug addiction.
"What you have done, you shall pay." He smiled, thrusting the knife deep into her thigh, working it back and forth to watch her squirm in pain and scream out before swiftly removing it after twisting it in an upwards direction. He smirked and walked away briskly, happy with his piece of art, twirling the knife around his fingers like how he used to do so with a pair of scissors. Finally, he was able to go and see her again...
