"She didn't just show me any old future, she told me exactly the future I needed to see!" the War Doctor said, finally understanding why The Moment showed him his future selves.
The Moment smiled. "Now you're getting it."
"Eh? Who did?" the Eleventh Doctor asked, a confused look on his face.
"Bad Wolf girl, I could kiss you!" the War Doctor exclaimed, arms thrown wide open.
"Yeah, that's going to happen." The Moment assured him.
"Sorry, did you just say Bad Wolf?" the Tenth Doctor asked, his eyes going round with shock. He didn't remember knowing those words in his past self, didn't know the meaning and the magnitude of those words to him. How did that incarnation of him know those words? How?
He looked at his future self, whose face had a puzzled and hurt look. "Ah, he thought. So even after three hundred years, he –I- still love her." In a way, it was comforting to know that in this universe full of change, where nothing ever stayed constant, he would always, always love her. His Rose.
"Now you've done it." The Moment, eyes closed, said. "Oh, what am I going to do now?"
"It was nothing. Ignore it." The War Doctor lied, not understanding The Moment's distress. "What exactly will this girl mean to me, that it made my future selves all worked up?"
"No, don't you ever say that it was nothing, because it was a lot of things but it was never nothing." The Eleventh Doctor hissed. "Why...Why did you say Bad Wolf?"
"Doctor? What is it? What's Bad Wolf?" asked Clara, who was looking at her Doctor worriedly. "What does it mean?"
The War Doctor looked at The Moment helplessly, whose head was in her hands. She looked up."I wasn't going to this." She sighed. "I guessed it can't be helped."
Suddenly, the room was filled with a warm, golden glow. When it disappeared, the Tenth and Eleventh Doctor gasped.
"Rose..." The Tenth Doctor reached out a hand, hardly daring to believe his eyes. It was just not possible. The walls were closed. And she was on the other side, with him. He'd lost her.
The Moment just shook her head. "Sorry, but I'm not her. I just chose this face and form to help you in the time of your greatest need."
The Tenth Doctor dropped his hand and turned away. The Eleventh Doctor just stared, grateful that he got to see her again, even though it wasn't really her. Even though it just made his hearts clench painfully, and made the memories come flooding back.
"She's happy. He told himself firmly. She's happy with me, the human me who get to spend the rest of his life with her. The one life I could never live. So just get on with your life, Doctor, because they're happy and you won't ever see her again!" He shouted at himself, not for the first time.
The Moment looked at both of them, pity evident in her eyes. "I'm really sorry this had to happen, I truly am."
"Who is this Rose that you're talking about? Is it you? But you said you were called Bad Wolf!" The War Doctor asked, puzzled at everyone's reactions.
"I said another name before I said Bad Wolf. I said, "I think I'm called Rose Tyler.""
"It still doesn't make sense."
The Tenth Doctor finally turned to them, eyes slightly red. "Rose Tyler and Bad Wolf are one and the same."
"I...I don't understand. Who exactly, is she?"
The Eleventh Doctor smiled, but his eyes told a different story. "Like you said, the future you needed to see."
