Polishing his sword for the umpteenth time, he stared at the wall,
thinking back to his days of adventure. With a pleasant smile he put the
sword back in it's sheath. Staring at it for a moment, he tied it to his
belt again, the familiar weight on his hip feeling as though it had never
been removed. Giving a contented sigh, he moved to place it back on it's
spot on the wall.
It was at that moment he heard a familiar roaring sound, getting closer, closer, much closer then it should. Diving for cover, he shielded himself with the table as his roof was blown to bits and a familiar egg shaped vehicle improvised a landing in his living room.
It was with these events that the world he knew would never be the same again.

A Chrono Trigger Fanfic:
Time Crash
The Epoch looked like it had seen rough times, the hull was covered in burn marks and part of the right wing was missing. As the cockpit opened up a haggard looking Lucca stumbled her way from the wreckage where half his house had once stood.
One glance could tell him it wasn't the Lucca he knew. She was older, covered in injuries, and overall looked even worse then the vehicle she had arrived in. On instinct he moved to her side, grabbing her to stabilize her.
"No time." the Lucca he didn't know managed to breath out. "It's coming. This belt! Wear it! Quickly!" With surprising strength she shoved a belt at him. As he stared at the technological trouser holder stupidly, the alternate Lucca gave a frusterated growl, grabbing it and hooking it around his waist. "There's no time! Everything will change! You have to find the source! Go to th." her sentence was cut off as a wave of. something flooded his senses. When he could see again, his home stood in complete ruins, the epoch was little more then a rusted hulk, and the Lucca who had given him the belt was a skeletal cadaver in front of him.
Stammering in surprise and fear, he fell on his butt and managed to crawl out of the rubble. Looking around, he could see the same scene everywhere. It was dark and hopeless. It was the future. The future that was supposed to be saved. Something was wrong. Horribly wrong. And Crono was all alone.
