Prologue

Wakako stared out into the distance in the direction of where Kushina would be having the baby. It was hers and Hanabusa's night off from patrol, but Wakako couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Hanabusa had just put Luna to bed and came out hugging Wakako from behind.

"Luna's asleep," Hanabusa kissed her neck, but when Wakako didn't react he froze. "Is everything okay?"

"I'm worried about Kushina and Lord Hokage," she said still staring in the direction of the hideout. "Something just doesn't feel right."

"The Anbu have protection handled," Hanabusa tried reassuring his wife.

Wakako turned around and stared up at her husband, green eyes filled with worry. She shook her head, "When have I ever been wrong when I go with my instincts?"

Trying to lighten the mood Hanabusa tried joking with her, "Well there was this-"

Wakako punched him in the gut lightly, "I'm not kidding around Hanabusa, something doesn't feel right. I would feel much better if we just went and checked on them, please."

Hanabusa noticed the scared look in her eyes which he had only ever seen once before and that was when they had lost their teammate on a mission. Sighing Hanabusa said, "I will let Anko know we are leaving and to listen for Luna."

Wakako put on her gear while Hanabusa woke Anko.

"Aunt Wakako, why do I have to watch her? Lord Hokage might send me out on a mission tomorrow," Anko said.

All of a sudden there was a crash where the hideout was. Anko and Wakako stared in horror as the nine tailed fox emerged from that area. It was like nothing they had seen before. The glowing red eyes could easily been from a distance and it's tail flickering wildly as it loud growl echoed and shook the ground.

"Hanabusa!" Wakako yelled back to the bedroom where he was still getting his gear. "We need to go now." Wakako looked down at her niece, both hand on her shoulders and told her, "Take Luna to safety. Stay with her, do whatever is necessary to protect her."

Hanabusa came running out of the back of the house with Luna is his arms. He handed her to Anko and looked out the window. "That's the- Wakako, let's go."

Luna cried out to her parents as they disappeared into the night and out of her life. "Mommy! Daddy!"
