Invisible Reflection

Lauren Tanner stared into her own eyes through the mirror and could see nothing looking back at her except for the smeared mascara and make up from all the tears. Aren't a person's eyes, the window to your soul? Maybe she didn't have one after all, and may be just may be that is why her mother has never really bothered to get to know her she said to herself as more tears welled up in her eyes.

You have to earn your place in your friend's lives, just like you had to earn your place in gymnastics? Summer's voice echoed inside her head. If Summer only knew, Lauren whispered to herself as she continued to study the empty reflection that stood before her. How can I earn a place in their lives, when I'm not even sure I earned my place in gymnastics? Or does my father's money count as earning your place.

There was a pain so deep she felt inside her heart, that crying could not even mend. A pain so deep it was impossible to form the words to describe them. Yeah I have a heart, even if people don't think so. She thought of what she had just done to her best friend Kaylie and then heard repeatedly in her head Carter's voice saying "You're disgusting".

She splashed water on her face hoping to drown the voices of all the people she hurt. But as she looked up again and stared into her own eyes, all she could see was an empty soul, full of empty dreams.

On the surface was an Olympic dream to win gold in gymnastics. If only they could see, the true gold medal for her is to be truly loved and appreciated even if only by one person. After all, it doesn't matter who the little girl turns out to be…..little girls all have the same dream of finding their prince. Never do they dream of being told their first time with someone is a "Mistake." Never should any girl, little or old see an Invisible Reflection.

A ONE SHOT. HOPEFULLY IT IS NOT TOO CHEESY. BUT I THINK LAUREN'S CHARACTER IS GREAT ON THE SHOW. YOU LOVE TO HATE HER.
