Jonas and Gabe continued down the hill to the people cheering. The music was still playing and Jonas was anxious to go down and see what elsewhere was like.
When they finally landed, there was a thump and Jonas clutched Gabe to prevent him from flying into the lush green grass. When Jonas turned around, the hill wasn't there, which made him very confused because instead of the hill there was a big water slide with kids sliding down it. The first thing Jonas noticed when he looked up was that everybody looked different, unlike in Jonas' community where everybody looked very similar, due to sameness.
There was a girl with yellow, wait no, blonde hair, Jonas remembered from a memory, a boy with a mix of blonde and dark hair, and many other different people. Strange Jonas thought. Suddenly, a lady that Jonas did not know with minimal clothing ran up to Jonas and said, "Welcome to Mardi Gras! You can walk around, have a drink or simply just have fun!" The lady handed Jonas a necklace-like thing with flowers on it and Jonas decided to put it on his neck, as the lady told him to. Gabe seemed to be enjoying the "Mardi Gras" celebration and was jumping in Jonas' arms.
All of a sudden, Jonas heard his name being called. "Jonas! Jonas!" He turned around and found The Giver, struggling to get up from the fall from the water slide. "Are you okay, Giver?" "Yes, I'm fine." The Giver responded. "Did you follow me, here?" Jonas asked. "I had to Jonas, the community thought that I killed you and started hunting me, so I followed your footsteps in the snow." The Lady that went up to Jonas to give the necklace thing went up to giver and said the same exact thing. The Giver put on the necklace thing. "Do you know exactly where we are giver?" Jonas asked. "I'm afraid not Jonas. I am just as confused as you are."
Jonas and The Giver walked around very confused of their surroundings. "So, um, what do you think we should do, since we have pretty much nothing, here, in elsewhere?" Jonas asked. "Lets just look around and maybe somebody helpful will tell us what to do." Giver suggested.
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion, and the music stopped and everybody shouted and ran east. In Jonas' arms, Gabe shouted "Plane! Plane!" Like he did on the way to elsewhere. Suddenly orange and black things dropped from the planes Jonas saw and caused an explosion. "Giver! Is this war?" Jonas shouted through the screams from the crowd. "This may be some sort of war, but I-" The Giver stopped and his eyes turned blood shot. Jonas, shocked and confused, said "Giver? Are you ok?" Then, something metal slid out through the givers tunic that must have went through his body. Jonas, still confused, got scared. The Giver fell and Jonas began screaming and crying for The Giver to come up, still unaware of what exactly happened to him. Then, men with black suits and black glasses started running towards Jonas with guns. Jonas ran, still barely holding Gabe in his arms, as the thing that went through The Giver shot right past Jonas' ears. Jonas wondered if he would ever see The Giver again.
