So it's been two years since my last update and after writing and rewriting chapter 25 I was just never happy with how the story was unfolding. A whole lot of life happened in between and this story stayed on the back burner. So after months of bouncing ideas in my head you're finally getting an update, just not the one you were expecting.

I've rewritten most of the story, changing things around a bit here and there. I hope you like this new version of It Doesn't Always End The Same. Please let me know what you think and feel about this.

**Most of the story is written and you should be expecting an update at least twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays).

Disclaimer: I do not own Vampire Academy, all rights go to Richelle Meads. I'm just having fun brining her characters to life in my own world.

"Of course this would happen." I continued to Scrub a little harder on my dress. If I arrived home smelling like vodka my already rocky relationship would be tested once again.

"Well this will have to." Looking up at my reflection in the mirror I couldn't help but feel so out of place. Pretending to be something you're not was by far the most exhausting thing in life. Letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding I dug into my purse and grabbed out my lipstick. No amount of makeup was going to heal the hole growing inside me. But it could cover the shell growing around me. I've been looking forward to this weekend for weeks. I hadn't seen Adrian since his mother's birthday dinner. Things had been rocky since then and I made a silent vow to try my hardest not to argue with him. "Just smile."

Nodding at my reflection I gave myself a weak smile before exiting the oversized bathroom. The music filled every corner of the Dashkov pool house, some artist Jesse had discovered from the bay. People filled the main room watching some guy try to rap along to the beat, try being the nicest word I could think of. Every month Natalie Dashkov parents hosted these extravagant dinner parties in her home for anyone that lived in the St. Vladimir Estates. Everyone dressed up and enjoyed a ridiculously great dinner while discussing business and overseas trips. Afterwards her boyfriend Jesse converted the pool house into his personal house party. Blasting whatever new music he had discovered the week prior. Normally I would not be on the guest list but it just happened that my boyfriend and best friend happened to live up the road on Vladimir's golden mountain. With life tending to get a little more rowdy when my best friend and boyfriend were back in town, tonight was definitely different. Since we arrived Adrian had become distant and moody. Lissa introduced us to her new boyfriend Victor and that seemed to make things even worse. Every time Lissa would gravitate towards us he would dismiss us from the conversation and lead us to another room. It was out of character for Adrian with Lissa being one of our best friends. I asked after dinner why Victor being here bothered him and the only answer he could give was that he shared a class together. Making my way through the living area I spotted Adrian in the living room and headed his way. Slowing my pace so I could better admire Adrian Ivashkov I couldn't help but smile. Yes he's handsome, dapper and slightly selfish, but he is so much more than that. When his friends were all gone and it was just us that was my favorite Adrian. We'd spend some days reading side by side and others exploring the world around us. If my days were cloudy he could always make me laugh, he was my best friend.

Adrian turned around lifting his right eyebrow with a puzzled look on his face. He reached out with his empty hand for me to grab. I quickened my pace, allowing my hand to swallow the warmth radiating from Adrian. Standing on my tip toes to bring my mouth closer to his ear. I could help but give him a soft kiss before whispering "Hi."

Releasing my hand, I immediately felt the cold bite his warmth left behind. He was must still be upset. Turning his attention back to Jesse "Excuse me for cutting this short, we're going to refill our glasses and mingle a bit." Gripping my hand a little tighter Adrian guided us toward the main entry hall, turning to give me what I've come to call "The College Adrian" look.

"You're still upset?" it was radiating off him and the silence I received in return confirmed it. With no intention of loosening his grip we continued to make our way down the hall towards the pool in complete silence. "Adrian, if you're upset with me you need to at least tell me why."

"I'm not upset with you." Turning his body in my direction Adrian gifted me with a weak smile. "I'm just confused. Where did you go? I turned around and you weren't there. I told you to stay in the kitchen while I talked to a few friends."

"Someone clumsy dropped vodka on my dress and went to clean it. I was gone for ten minutes tops." I reached up to give him a kiss on his cheek, the day old scuff tickling my lips. "Absolutely nothing to be confused about dear."

Looking out towards the pool Adrian was lost in thought. Directing his attention towards me again, his face softened. "You're right, let's change the subject." Letting my hand go he ran his finger down my arm admiring my dress. "Have I ever told you how much I love this dress on you?

Giving Adrian the biggest smile, I wrapped my arms around his waist. Looking up into his green eyes, I couldn't help but give him another smile. "You have not, but it's never too late."

"Were you able to wash the drink off."

"Yeah, I'll make sure to toss it in the washer tomorrow morning." Resting my head on his chest, I wrapped my arms tighter around his waist. Adrian lowered his chin to rest on top of my head. The pools warm blue light illuminated the Dashkovs sun room, causing everyone's silhouettes to almost look magical. We stayed like that for almost twenty minutes, quietly swaying to the music, lost in our own little world.

"I've been looking forward to seeing you all week. I know you're busy tomorrow and Sunday morning, maybe we can grab a late lunch before you head back to school." Adrian reached for my right hand, twirling me to the soft melody that was currently playing.

"I would love to; I can have one of our chiefs cook your favorite meal. Maybe I'll extend my trip and leave early Monday morning."

"I like the sound of that, maximize our time together? Guiding my twirl right into his arms, I glided towards him till my back rested against his chest.

"Exactly, that's why I was upset earlier. Ten minutes is too long in my book, I thought you left. You didn't want to be her in the first place, it would be no surprise for you to just up and leave."

"Adrian, don't start again we're enjoying our time together."

"Start what?

"You do this every time you're back in town. I'm not going to fight with you." Releasing our embrace, I turned my body to face his.

Giving me his signature smile, he slowly started to walk around me. "I'm not fighting; I am simply stating the facts. You did not want to be here. I practically had to beg you to come and spend time with me. I knew once you saw Christian here that mind of yours started creating an exit plan. It's only natural th-"

"Adrian, stop. Yes I've been lost in my own mind lately and the last place I want to be is at a party but I'm here. I'm here because this is where you want to be and I really miss you. So can we please put an end to this subject and just enjoy the evening?"

"No, I wanted you there when I got back, and you weren't."

I am not having a repeat of his mother's party. We fought for hours afterwards and all because I mentioned hanging out with Christian the day before. Christian, the guy who has been nothing but the best big brother a girl could ask for. Lissa said it was all part of being in a long distance relationship and the pressure Adrian's parents placed on him. Every small thing turned into a battle of harsh words, ending with Adrian going back to campus early and a loss of communication till we both cooled off. I shook my head offering him a look of defeat.

Adrian let out a harsh laugh, upset that I wasn't feeding into his game. "That's it! You're not going to respond?"

I shook my head again looking at him straight in the eyes. "No."

Adrian moved closed gripping my side. He more than pissed he was fuming and I wasn't giving in which only added to it.

"This is why people have such a hard time being around you. You say you love me, but you have all these wall put up and you stay behind them. Any chance an emotion might slip through the crack you exterminate it immediately."

Adrian's face was inches from mine, I could smell the scotch on his breath. He was giving it one last attempt and it was working. If it had been any other night I would have told him to go. "I'm not a punching bag you can use when things aren't going your way Adrian."

"I love you would have been better, is that all you have to say? " Adrian straightened his body, making my 5'6 frame suddenly feel so small in comparison. People were starting to watch, he was right about one thing, I did put up walls against the world. Adrian loved people watching him, he needed to be the center of attention at all times; I on the other hand wanted nothing more than to be a fly on a wall. That's why we work so well, well for the most part. Adrian became the center of my world and all he had to do was just be Adrian. I scanned our little audience locking eyes with Christian. Embarrassed with the current situation I had to look away. I whispered softy so only we could hear. "Adrian people are starting to watch."

Moving his body towards mine, he leaned in inched from my ear "Let them." Stepping away from me he smiled softly before raising his voice" I don't know why I bother working on this relationship so hard when you obviously don't care."

My hand made contact with his face before my mind could process what I had just done. "Don't speak to me like that, or you'll regret ever fucken meeting me."

Jesse and Natalie rushed to Adrian's side while Christian rushed to mine. Nursing his left check Adrian looked shocked. "I've regretted it every day since we met."

I couldn't take my eyes off Adrian, we stood there silently, was this it. Surely this wasn't how our story ended.

"Rose" Natalie breaking the spell we were currently under. "You need to leave now."

Christian placed his hand on the small of my back. "I think that's a great idea. Come on Rose let's go."

As we made our way through the sun room, I could feel everyone's eyes on me. The Ivashkovs were Vladimir royalty, and you do not fuck with their monarch.

"Are you okay?" I looked at Christian disappointed face and nodded. "You should have punched him."

"What?"

"You should have punched him. I would have if yo-" The sound of someone running behind us directed our attention to the home behind us.

"Wait up!" Adrian was heading straight for us.

"Here are my keys, turn around and walk straight to my car. I will deal with him." Christian reached into his pocket to pull out his keys before tossing them my way. I nodded doing exactly as I was told.

"Rose wait, I want to apologize. Christian you really don't have to take her home. I'll just drop Rose off"

"Like hell you will." I kept walking, Christian was level headed one.

I unlocked the car and sat on the passenger side, minutes passed and they were still standing there. I could see Adrian's hand waving around in the air while Christian just stood there. After a while Christian turned around making his way towards me. He slowly got in the car picking up the keys from where I placed them on the center console. Turing on the car he looked back and began to exit the Dashkov residence not saying one word.

"So?"

"So?" he mocked me.

"What happened?"

"Nothing, I told his to sober up and then we'll talk. Apparently we both have walls up." Christian turned his head to look at me and smile.

"You're an ass."

Letting out a soft laugh. "I know."

We stayed silent, with only one of Christian's favorite artist playing softly in the background. After a while the trees started to disappear revealing the suburbs I currently resided in. But Christian didn't turn on my street he continued straight towards down town. "Hey you passed my place."

Christian looked at me with a mischievous smile on his face. "There's someone I want you to meet first."
