Sunlight.

That word changed my life forever.

"Another dream about him."

I woke up to another day. The morning seemed normal enough, minus the weird dreams I've been having about this boy and his friends.

Sunlight crept through my windows and warmed my face. I turned to the light and smiled. I opened the windows next to my bed to let in some fresh air. It felt so good on my face. I had a breathtaking view of Twilight Town from my bedroom window. The sun was just above the horizon, latching itself onto the town's many buildings and seeping through the cracks in between. The sky wasn't quite blue yet, but a shade of orange that spread itself across the sky and dripped down onto the sleepy town below it. I could hear the bells from the station tower ringing, as they did every morning.

It seemed like a normal, peaceful day then.

I brought my head back inside and closed the windows. The clock above my desk said it was 11AM, which wasn't good news for me. I'd slept in again! I was supposed to meet my friends at 10:30! I checked my cell phone. Two missed calls from Hayner. Oh, geez.

I almost fell out of bed and ran to the closet while simultaneously throwing off my pajamas. I put on my clothes as quickly as I could, but it wasn't fast enough. I ran down the stairs, expecting to see my parents, but instead I saw a plate of breakfast on the table with a note lying beside it. The note said something along the lines of, "Your dad and I had to leave for an emergency business trip. All of the phone numbers you'll need are on the fridge! I've left some money…" yada yada yada. I only skimmed the note; I was in a hurry. I grabbed a piece of toast and abandoned the rest of the plate. I ran out of the house and locked the door.

With toast in my mouth, I ran up Market Street and checked my watch. 11:10. Oh crap, they're waiting. My hand fell down to my waist, casually stroking my side, and I felt an empty space that shouldn't have been there. I left my phone at home! I was debating whether or not to go back. I turned around to see how far I went, when I saw something I've never seen before. More precisely, a girl I've never seen before. I've lived in this town my whole life, so I know everybody in it, but not her.

Something about her seemed not quite right. Like she was an extra piece to an already-put-together puzzle. It struck me as a little odd. Not only that, but she had this kind of exotic beauty to her. Her eyes were a color that I'd never seen before. They were purple, but tinted red. She had black hair that touched her shoulders, but the bangs hanging down in front of her face were blue. She just stood there, staring off into the distance, as if she was waiting for something.

I walked a little closer to her. It seems she heard my footsteps. She turned her head to find the source of the noise, and then she smiled. Oh god, it was a beautiful smile. "There you are! I was waiting for you."

"Do I know you?" I asked. If I didn't, I sure as hell wanted to.

"I'm not sure, but I know you," she said simply. Her face said 'you can trust me,' but her words were so enigmatic. I didn't understand at all, but I found myself moving closer to her. I stopped, realizing how awkward the situation's become.

"Uh, I'm Roxas."

She laughed. Oh, that voice. It felt nostalgic. It made me feel warm. "Of course you are."

"What's your name?" I found myself asking.

"You don't even remember my name?" she asked, sounding sad in a playful kind of way. "Okay then, for now, you can just call me Sunlight." She smiled again, and her smile warmed me like the sunlight she claimed to be.

"That's a weird name. But I like it."

"That's 'cause it's not my name!" she said. "Buuut, until you can remember my name, you can call me Sunlight."

I didn't understand at all, but I wanted to hear her talk again.

"You were running a second ago. You're in a hurry, right? I won't bother you now then. I can tell you that you'll be running into some trouble soon, though. I'll help you through it. Until then, see you later!"

She turned around and ran away. Just like that.

"Wait!" I yelled, moving towards her. For some reason, my body didn't want to follow her. I just stood there awkwardly with my arm reaching out to grab her, only to clasp onto the air that felt like it just got a little colder.

"Sunlight, huh?"

The word crept from my lips. It sounded so ugly coming from my mouth.
"Oh!" I shouted, suddenly remembering Hayner and the gang. I checked my watch and ran to the usual spot, where I knew they were waiting for me.
