I don't mean to run

But every time you come around I feel

More alive than ever

And I guess it's too much

She couldn't stand it, everywhere Caroline went, it seemed like he was there too. Klaus. She tried to run every time she saw him, but it didn't work. Just being in the same room with him made her feel more alive than when she turned. It was too much for her to handle, so she always ran.

And I don't even know what's real

I've never wanted anyone so bad

None of her feelings felt real to her. She had never held a real, meaningful conversation with him. Every comment made between them was scathing and biting remarks. It made no sense! But she did know something that was real. She had never wanted anyone so bad...

If I let you love me

Be the one adored

Would you go all the way?

Be the one I'm looking for?

She had finally spoken to him. She saw a side to him she knew her friends would never see. He was becoming more human to her than she wanted. But she wanted to let him love her, she wanted him to be the one she was looking for. She would never admit that to anyone though, least of all him. She'd continue to let him be adored by her silently in her heart.

Help me come back down

From high above the clouds

You know I'm suffocating

But I blame this town

She lay in a field of wild flowers with him, just watching the clouds pass them by.

"Help me come back down, Klaus."
"Why would you want to?"
"Because all of this, it's suffocating me, I blame Mystic Falls. It's too small a place for girls like me."
"Liar."

Why do I deny

The things that burn inside

She noticed that he had taken to following her again. She hadn't been alone with him again since she denied how he made her feel. Part of her asks why she continues to deny everything, but then she remembered her friends. They wouldn't understand how he made her burn inside for him. So she denied him, and herself.

Deep down I'm barely breathing

But you just see a smile

She was barely breathing, but she wouldn't let him see her reaction to his closeness. She wanted him and everyone else to see the smile she had perfected over the years. She couldn't even understand why she was dancing with him. She had tried to tell herself she was at the party his mother threw for Elena's sake, but she was lying to herself. She was there, in the dress he gave her, wearing the bracelet he gave her, to be near him.

and I don't wanna let this go

Really, I just want to know

She once again found herself alone with him. He had led her outside and showed her the horse. She didn't want to let this go, the way he still made her feel when she was near him. Her friends wouldn't approve, but she didn't care in that moment.

"Klaus, I just want to know-"
"I fancy you Caroline. Let me be the one you're looking for. Just let me love you."

Without a sound from her, Caroline sealed his declaration with a kiss. She had finally heard what she wanted to hear. She would let him love her. She knew that he was the one she had been looking for.
