You Were My Head, You Were My Heart

As John listens to the chatter, he becomes steadily more deaf.

As John watches the people, he becomes infinitely more blind.

As John smells the freshly overturned dirt, he becomes rapidly more asnomic.

As John tastes the tears on his lips, he becomes quickly more ageusic.

As John shakes everyone's hands, he becomes far more numb.

As John slowly works his way through the people still trying to give him their condolences, he realizes that he just wants them all to leave so he can have one last moment with Sherlock. As John thinks that he wants one last moment with Sherlock, he realizes that he will never have another minute with Sherlock. As John realizes that he will never spend another second with Sherlock, he really wishes that everyone would just leave.

As John thinks that he wants everyone to leave, he realizes that he's too selfish for thinking that.

As John finally works his way through the small crowd of people, he stops in front of the grave. As John stares at the casket, he finds his eyes filling with tears again and he irritably blinks them away.

As John forces the emotion away, he raises his hand to run his fingers along the chain on his neck.

As John watches the casket slowly being covered up with dirt, he pulls the chain over his head.

As John once again feel tears stinging his eyes, he stares through bleary eyes at the dog tags now in his hand.

As John feels the tears falling again, he clenches his hand around his dog tags for a moment, before gently tossing them into the grave.

As John buries Sherlock, he buries a part of himself.

Title inspired by the Florence and the Machine song, No Light, No Light, but altered to make it fit. I do not own F&tM, just as I do not own Sherlock. I have decided that I love the idea of Sherlock, for whatever reason, having John's dog tags.
