As Mestral packed in preparation for heading out on the open road to see the rest of the world, he found himself wondering what to do with the items Stron had left behind. When Stron was - for a lack of a better word - bored, he had a tendency to salvage broken devices and repair and/or attempt to improve them. As they weren't part of the original furnishings of the apartment he had stayed in with his fellow crash survivors, they could technically be considered his property rather than that of the landlord. The thing was, most of the appliances Stron had tinkered with would be far too unwieldy to carry considering his intended methods of travel and the fact that he didn't plan on staying in one place for too long.

Maggie had been saying that Jack would need some things for when he went off to college...

*&^%^&*

Jack was immensely enjoying his first semester of college. In the first few weeks, he had made a number of friends and had already found a girlfriend. After dressing for the day, Jack fried a couple eggs over his hot plate and popped a couple of slices of bread into his toaster.

As he was shifting his eggs onto a plate, his friend Mike walked into his room.

"What's with the plate on the ceiling?" Mike asked, by way of greeting, having obviously walked in to say "Good morning" and finding himself saying something else upon spotting the plate that had been glued to the ceiling.

"Mom's friend Mestral gave me a toaster, and it turned out that there was a slight problem with it." Jack replied.

"Why don't you get a new toaster?" Mike asked.

"It'd be a waste of money. Other than a slight glitch, it works just fine. Personally, I consider myself lucky, considering what Mestral's friend did to Mrs. Garrett's vacuum." Jack said.

"What happened to Mrs. Garrett's vacuum?" Mike asked.

"Stron fixed it so it sucked up half her carpet." Jack replied as he moved his plate to catch the slices of toast after they ricocheted off the plate on the ceiling.
