"Lauren Marie Singer, if you don't get down here right now you'll be late for school," my mom calls up the stairs.

"I'm right behind you," I say smirking at her. Holding my back pack and grabbing an apple from the counter I run out the door to the school bus and my best friend.

"Hey, Harm, what's up?" I ask sliding in next to him on the seat.

"Not much other than my mom is dating this used car dealer," Harm says making a face.

"At least your mom doesn't think you're evil," I say to him taking a bite of my apple.

"Lauren, I don't think she thinks you're evil, you're just," He pauses for a second, "spirited," he finally finishes.

"What do you mean? I'm completely normal."

"You jumped off your first story porch over hang onto a trampoline covered in snow while you wore a bathing suit," Harm says giving me a pointed look.

"It isn't my fault Mac double dog dared me to," I answer crossing my arms and pouting.

"If Mac double dog dared you to jump off the train bridge into the river would you?" Harm asks.

"That could be fun," I say grinning at him.

"Hey, guys, what's up?" our friend Mac asks sitting in the seat across from us.

"Lauren is going to jump off the train bridge," Harm says glaring at me.

"I don't see your problem, Harm, you've done it before," Mac says searching through her bag for something.

"You've done it before and you didn't tell me," I exclaim glaring right back at Harm.

"It was only once and it wasn't even that fun," Harm looks kind of nervous.

"You jumped five times," Mac says looking and sounding confused. I glare at Harm I can't believe he would jump off the old train bridge without me.

"I'm two years older than you, Lauren, besides it isn't safe to jump off the bridge," Harm states.

"Just because you're two years older doesn't mean that you get to do dangerous stuff then forbid me to do the same thing," Lauren says crossing her arms.

"Harm, I hate to say it but Lauren's right," Mac says grimacing, "I can't believe I said that." Lauren looks up as the other kids start to stand up.

"Come on, guys, we're at school we'll finish this conversation later," Lauren says also standing and grabbing her stuff.
