prompt: scars

Uzumaki Karin did not like her scars; they reminded her too much of when she was young and naïve and thought that there was only good and evil in the world. Each ring of scars reminded her too much of how she'd had to grow so quickly in a world so full of hatred, so full of war. Every bite mark reminded her of how Orochimaru, who she had so blindly followed, had experimented on her and allowed Kabuto to as well. They reminded her of hatred, betrayal, and loss of innocence.

So with shame, she covers each and every single one of them up. She conceals the permanent mementos behind silky lavender cloth and a harsh exterior. She knew that if other people were to see the marks, they'd be disgusted with her; they'd be repulsed by the deep bite marks spread across her arms, torso, chest, and neck.

Yet, when Uchiha Sasuke lies with her at night, peppering kisses over every scar, she can't bring herself to hate them, not when they bring the Uchiha so much closer to her. She can't bring herself to care about how ugly they must look because none of that matters to her if it doesn't to Sasuke. If he can accept her, scars and all, surely she could learn to accept them too.
