Bow-Ties are Cool

"Rooo-ooose" the Doctor whined, coming out from the changing room in the TARDIS wardrobe. Rose, who was curled up on the sofa at the entrance to the wardrobe reading a magazine, couldn't help but giggle at his childish behaviour. She put down her magazine and stood up to inspect his outfit of choice, or rather, the outfit Rose had picked out and was now forcing him to wear. "I don't see why I can't just wear my suit" he moaned, tugging on the collar of the white dress shirt.

Rose rolled her eyes. "Honestly, Doctor. Why can't you just wear the sodding tux without bloody complaining? And you know you can't wear the suit. We're going to Prince Orlax and Princess Oravia" he pouted in response. "You said yourself that if we weren't dress properly, the planet's inhabitants would take it as an insult and try to kill us…again"

"But I hate the tuxedo so much!" the Doctor continued to twist as Rose attempted to fix his collar "I look like a penguin"

"Penguins are cute"

"Fantastic" he replied dryly.

Rose finished with his collar and stepped back to admire her work. She smiled. "I think you look very handsome- just like James Bond"

"I hate James Bond" the pout returned.

"You loved James Bond last week" Rose commented, highly amused. "Made me watch six films one after another"

"That was last week" he mumbled, turning to the full length mirror.

"Six!"

"I didn't have to wear a bow-tie last week" he flicked the offending accessory, causing it to become crooked. Rose tutted and rushed over to his side, quickly straightening he tie.

"I don't know why you hate it. I love bow-ties" she smiled, wiping down his lapels. "Bow-ties are cool"

"You think?" the Doctor asked incredulously.

"Yeah, 'course. It's very…" she looked away searching for an appropriate metaphor, clicking her fingers in triumph as she found it. "History teacher!"

"And that's a good thing?"

"Yeah, reminds me of this history teacher I had in year 11, Mr Smith. He was only young, but he used to wear a bow-tie with tweed jacket and braces. My friends and I used to fancy him, and they were so jealous when I got to go to extra classes. He used to help me with my homework" her eyes glazed over as she thought back to her youth fondly.

"Rose?" the Doctor clicked his fingers in front of her and she started.

"Sorry" she smiled guiltily. "He really was a good-looking history teacher" the Doctor raised his brows and she rushed on. "Obviously you're much better looking though. Especially in that bow-tie"

"Okay, fine. I'll wear the stupid tux" he looked down at Rose, his brows knitted together "You really think bow-ties are cool?"

Rose reached up and gave the Doctor a quick kiss on the lips. "Bow-ties are most definitely cool. Especially on you, Doctor"
