Boggart

Second Years' Defence Against the Dark Arts Class

"Sirius Black."

"Sirius Black."

"SIRIUS BLACK ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME!"

"Oh yeah, sure." Sirius flicked an irritating fly away from his gorgeous locks.

"Yeah right, and I'm a hippogriff." James said sarcastically, punching his best mate in the shoulder playfully.

Professor McGonagall glared at the two boys, before continuing her sentence. "As I was saying, ,it is now your turn to face the boggart."

Sirius walked up suavely to the front of the class, and positioned himself in front of the cupboard where the boggart was kept.

"3,2,1….." Professor McGonagall pushed the cupboard door open.

Orion and Walburga appeared in front of Sirius, their eyes glittering menacingly. "Flesh traitor, friend of filth, you are not one of us."

The boggart advanced, and Sirius steeled himself, and yelled out in the bravest voice he had. "RIDDIKULUS!" The boggart dissipated back into the cupboard and Professor McGonagall closed the cupboard door.

"Well done, ," she said quietly, but Sirius didn't acknowledge her.

He quietly walked back to where the rest of the class was standing, reliving one of his worst memories.

After Sirius comes back home from his first year a Gryffindor

"YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO THE FAMILY NAME!" Walburga shrieked.

"YOU ARE NO SON OF MINE!" Orion roared.

"HOW DARE YOU!"

Slap.

"YOU HAVE ASHAMED US!"

Another slap.

"WE ARE BETTER OFF WITHOUT YOU!"

Sirius, only 11 at the time, clutched his bruised face, tears streaming down his face. "OFF TO BED WITHOUT DINNER!" Sirius picked himself up the stairs after Orion shoved him to the stairs brutally. His brother, Regulus, met his eyes for a moment, then looked down at the ground, too afraid to stand up for his older brother.

Sirius walked stiffly up the stairs, clenching his jaw. When he reached his room, he opened the door then locked it. Once in his room, he sat on his bed, curling his legs up and holding them together with his arms. Only then did he start to dissolve into tears, sobbing softly. He felt completely and utterly alone.

Back in present time

"Mate, are you in there? Class ended 10 minutes ago." James stated.

"What? Oh, right, let's go." Sirius said in a monotone voice.

"Sirius, are you ok? Look, I know that your parents were rough to you, but now you have me to protect you. And Remus. And maybe Peter. We're family now. Anyway, who would want to hurt you with me around?" James stuck out his scrawny figure proudly.

Siriuis smirked, "Right, if that person were a quaffle."

"If only," James sighed, throwing his arm around his best friend.

"And James," Sirius said hesitantly, "thanks for being there."

"Not a problem." James answered.

They walked off to class, and Sirius, for the first time, felt that he had a normal life, and somewhat normal brothers.
