The Return

He wiped the sweat off his face, hoping his wobbly legs would bring him safely to the squad room. His first day back, and he felt nervous and queasy.
He had chosen to come early, before the office filled. He opened the door.
"Welcome back!" There stood his best team, beaming at him and holding a fancy cake.
"Didn't I tell you, no private parties?" Dobey said, trying to sound gruff.
"So good to have you back, Cap," Starsky said.
"Take care of your heart, we need you," Hutch added.
"Thanks, guys. I've missed you," Dobey said, his eyes filling.
