Once in a Lifetime

*This story picks up from where the first one leaves off.. it is a continuation of the movie A Walk To Remember based on Nicholas Sparks' bestseller of the same title*

"Ahem! Ahem! Can I have everyone's attention please? I'd like to make an announcement!" I yelled tapping my knife on my glass to get myself heard over the roar of people's voices in the banquet hall.
The room became quiet and everyone's eyes focused on me. I have never felt so nervous in my life. I looked at everyone, my family, my friends, Jamie's father and friends. They all were waiting for me to speak, for my speech.
"On behalf of Jamie and I, we would like to thank you for helping us celebrate our love on such short notice. It means a lot to us to heave you here with us. Once again. thank you. Enjoy the food and music and have a good time." I said as I raised my glass to everyone.
"Cheers!" Everyone replied in unison.
I looked to my right and saw Jamie giving me the sweetest smile. Her eyes were wide, bright and brimming with tears of happiness. I knew that this was the happiest moment of her life. I had completed her number one and made her happier than words could convey. I took her hand in mine and raised it to my lips.
"I love you." I told her as I kissed her hand.
"I love you too. More than anything." Jamie said as she leaned in and planted a soft but loving kiss on my lips. The feel of her soft lips against mine sent a rush of calmness over my whole body. With that simple kiss, I knew that our time together would be well spent.
"Well Mrs. Carter, would you like to dance?" I asked as I took her hand and led her out on to the dance floor.
"I thought you'd never ask." Jamie replied happily as I twirled her around the wooden floor.
Being with Jamie, dancing and feeling her body against mine sent a sea of memories flooding into my mind. I recalled everything about our first date.

I was so nervous as I walked into the church. Reverend Sullivan was up on the pulpit practicing his sermon for Sunday. He was talking about whatever we sow, we will also reap and I swear that he was talking about me. He asked me what I was doing there. Nervously, I asked him if it was okay for me to take Jamie out to dinner that Friday night. He told me that it was impossible for me to go out with her and I begged and pleaded with him to allow her to date. I wanted to tell him that I had fallen in love with his daughter (even though she told me not to) and that I missed spending any possible time with her. Somehow with all my pleading, Reverend Sullivan agreed and I was able to take Jamie to a nice outdoor restaurant for a nice dinner, one that Jamie deserved.
She looked so beautiful when I picked her up. She was wearing a blue and white dress, but with one special tough, the pink sweater that I had given her after the spring musical. Our dinner was delicious and desert was even better. Jamie at as if there was no tomorrow. It
