We are more dangerous than people think, we Hufflepuffs are.
Sure, us badgers are taken advantage of, ridiculed and what not, but that is not the whole story.
Look beneath of the way people treat real badgers, beneath the gassing of us, the hunting of us, the view of us as nuisance and then you will see.
Those Slytherins, those snakes, they think they're better than us. They hurt us and they tease us and basically walk all over us. But snakes don't kill badgers.
For all their venom, for all their fangs, for all their slyness and sneakiness, never has any snake killed a badger. But badgers kill snakes.
For all our furriness, for all our cuteness, for all our loyalty and fairness, badgers eat snakes. With no fear, badgers gobble up snakes with ease.
So can Hufflepuffs.
Oh, don't even get me started on those Ravenclaws, those eagles, who think they're brilliant and clever and oh-so-wonderful. They think us idiots who don't know the solution to nine plus seven. But never has an eagle killed a badger.
They may be the sharpest tools in the shed, the brightest crayon in the box and we may not be, but eagles are no more than pests to us badgers. We, the badgers kill those smarty-pants eagles like a person killing a fly.
Despite the fact that we aren't geniuses and we don't get astronomically high scores on those muggle SAT tests, badgers eat birds and can swat even the most ferocious predators out of the skies.
So can Hufflepuffs.
The Gryffindors, the lions, they think they're above us. Though they're kinder than snakes, they are condescending and think us fools. But lions never kill badgers.
Oh, sure, they're brave and reckless and chivalrous and heroic, they have teeth and claws and power. I do not deny that they are the kings of the jungle. But badgers fend off lions with no trouble whatsoever.
Yeah, those lions think we are no match for them, but despite our appearances we fight them, and guess what? We drive them away.
So do Hufflepuffs.
You know how a book in't supposed to be judged by its cover? Well, people do anyway. Trust me. I know. Hufflepuffs; our cover is old duffers, misfits and "the lot." That cover is not who we are.
We are the real badgers, the ones who are powerful, mighty and feared. We are the brave, the clever and the cunning.
I may be slightly pompous, but I am tough. Some may be bothersome, but they're mighty. Some may be gullible, but they're imaginative. Just because we aren't show-offs doesn't mean we aren't deserving of respect.
We Hufflepuffs are as strong as the badgers that represent us.
We Hufflepuff badgers are more dangerous than we look.
