AN: Prompt number 50 - "Why are you crying?"

Roxas never cried. He was the type of person who never showed emotion like that, kept everything bottled up inside, even when it would have been better to let it all out. Today, though, it had all become too much to handle and the tears had begun to fall, completely against his wishes.

"Rox, are you… why are you crying?"

Through the sniffling, Roxas managed to glare at the figure standing in front of him. "Why do you think, Axel? You're leaving to fight Sora, and I'm left here alone. No-one else who's fought him has ever returned."

"Just means I'll be the first, doesn't it?"

"Not funny."

Axel brushed away the tears making their way down Roxas's face. "Don't you know that there's always an exception to the rule? We'll see each other again, don't you worry, so stop crying. It'll be ok."

"I'll be waiting for you, Axel."

"That's more like my Roxas."

………………

Roxas did wait for him. It had been the longest two days of his life (existence, really, since a Nobody couldn't be described as alive), but Axel did, eventually, make it back to Castle Oblivion. The fact that he crawled slowly out of a flickering portal was neither here nor there – the point was, he came back.

"Told you I would, didn't I, Roxy?"

"Yes. Yes, you did."

Roxas was crying again, but this time they were tears of joy, and he barely even noticed them falling.
